    Next18 Adapter 1. Getting started This manual gives step-by-step instructions for safe and correct connecting of the adapter, and operation. Before you start, we advise you to read the whole manual, particularly the chapter on safety instructions and the checklist for trouble shooting. You will then know where to take care and how to prevent mistakes which take a lot of effort to correct.

    SUSI module Features of the Next18 adapter  All connections of the Next18 interface are led out on solder pads on the adapter board.  For space reasons, the SUSI interface is not designed with a pin header to accommodate a cable connector.

    Next18 Adapter tams elektronik 3. Connections 3.1. Safety instructions Mechanical hazards Cut wires can have sharp ends and can cause serious injuries. Watch out for sharp edges when you pick up the PCB. Visibly damaged parts can cause unpredictable danger. Do not use damaged parts: recycle and replace them with new ones.

    Next18 Adapter 3.2. Safe and correct soldering Caution: Incorrect soldering can cause dangers through fires and heat. Avoid these dangers by reading and following the directions given in the chapter Safety instructions.  Use a soldering iron with temperature control, which you set to approx. 300 °C.

    3.4. Connecting the motor and the current collectors Please note: The maximum motor current that can be transmitted via the Next18 interface according to the standard is 500 mA. It is essential to check the maximum motor current of the locomotive decoder and the actual current consumption of the locomotive before installation.

  • Page 10 Next18 Adapter tams elektronik Connections to the amplified outputs F0f, F0r, AUX1 and AUX2 Please note: You can connect loads with a maximum current of 100 mA each to the amplified outputs (power outputs). Before connecting a load, check that the maximum current is not exceeded.

Fire hazard! Possible causes:  The connection cables on the circuit board are not correctly assigned to the connections in the vehicle.

Guarantee bond For this product we issue voluntarily a guarantee of 2 years from the date of purchase by the first customer, but in maximum 3 years after the end of series production.
