- Page 6 Model 400A84 DESCRIPTION The 400A84 is a portable cable tester that can be used to verify the integrity of any two conductor cable. While the unit features BNC, 10-32 and 5-44 connectors on its front panel, a variety of adaptors are available for the user who wants to test cables with another type of two-conductor connector on his/her cables.

OPERATION Before connecting a test cable to the 400A84, turn the unit on and verify that the “No Short Detected” LED illuminates. Test cables can be connected between any of the three connectors in “ROW A” and any of the three connectors in “ROW B”. For example, a cable can be tested even if it has a BNC connector on one end and a 5-44 connector on the other.
