Users should have a detailed understanding of GASMAX LX operating and maintenance instructions. Use the GASMAX LX only as specified in this manual or detection of gases and the resulting protection provided may be impaired. Read the following WARNINGS prior to use. - Page 6 BE GUARANTEED. DO NOT PAINT TRANSMITTER OR SENSOR ASSEMBLY. DO NOT OPERATE THE GASMAX LX IF ITS ENCLOSURE IS DAMAGED OR CRACKED OR HAS MISSING COMPONENTS. MAKE SURE THE COVER, INTERNAL PCB’S AND FIELD WIRING ARE SECURELY IN PLACE BEFORE APPLYING POWER.

✓ When monitoring for the potential presence of multiple toxic gas types, the unit should be calibrated for the least cross-sensitive toxic gas. NOTE: These guidelines are ONLY intended as a general directive for the placement of the GASMAX LX. This information should NOT serve as a complete list when considering all potential parameters for the proper location of the unit. - Page 10 GASMAX LX User’s Manual, Revision 1.0 MOUNTING THE ENCLOSURE It is recommended to mount the GASMAX LX to a solid structure (such as a concrete wall, steel column, or angle iron) where a minimum of vibration will be transmitted to the unit.

Page 11: Normal Operation
Once the counting is complete the device will be in operating mode. The GASMAX LX includes both Magnetic and Manual Pushbutton switches for MENU, ADD and SUB. If the enclosure is open, use the manual pushbuttons when asked to activate a button. -
Page 12: Calibration
Calibration is the process of evaluating and adjusting the precision and accuracy of measurement equipment. Although GDS Corp tests and calibrates every device at the factory, for best accuracy, the GASMAX LX SHOULD be initially calibrated in the environment where it is installed. - Page 13 GASMAX LX User’s Manual, Revision 1.0 If the reading is not zero, activate / press the SUB button until the display shows “0” Turn off and remove the cylinder of zero air if used. SENSOR CALIBRATION (Span) Unscrew the sensor rain guard (if attached) and attach the calibration adapter, regulator and cylinder of Calibration Gas.

SENSOR REPLACEMENT The sensor elements used in the GASMAX LX detects gas in either % or PPM concentrations; this element must be fully functional for the system to operate correctly. GDS Corp recommends replacing the sensing element whenever a slow response to gas is observed during the normal calibration process. - Page 15 GASMAX LX User’s Manual, Revision 1.0 Sensor Replacement Unscrew, remove, and set aside the explosion proof enclosure cover Lift the display board out of the explosion proof enclosure Unplug the sensor data cable from the connector on the back of the display board.
