WASHING THE ELEMENT A torn air cleaner element will allow dirt to enter the engine and can damage the engine. Replace the air cleaner element with a new one if it is torn. Care- fully examine the air cleaner ele- ment for tears during cleaning.
SPARK PLUG Failure to position the air cleaner element properly can allow dirt to bypass the air cleaner element. This will cause engine damage. Be sure to properly install the air cleaner element. NOTE: Be careful not to spray water on the air cleaner box when cleaning the motorcycle.
