• Always wash hands with soap and water and dry thoroughly before
handling the tube.
• Observation of the stoma site:
Any redness or swelling of the skin may be the first symptom of
infection. For this reason, it's necessary to disinfect the stoma
thoroughly on a daily basis. Do not open or move the external
fixation device during the first weeks. From the moment the stoma is
completely healed, usually 2 weeks after placement of the PEG,
remove the cover from the base of the external fixation device, slide
the device away from the skin and wash the skin around the stoma
with soap and water, rinse and dry thoroughly. Make sure the fixation
device is brought back to its original position after the cleaning.
• Connecting and disconnecting from the Y-adapter:
Firmly hold the solid ENFit
Avoid twisting the flexible Y- adapter tubing.
• Disconnect:
Avoid forcing connectors apart or disconnecting with forceps,
clamps or other tools.
If you are unable to disconnect, soak in warm soapy water.
• Keep the ENFit
Avoid the build up of feed in connector threads and screw caps.
Clean regularly with warm soapy water as indicated in the
instructions for use.
