PRODUCT DESCRIPTION This unit is a multifunctional “off-grid” solar inverter with sine-wave output for 230Vac systems including an internal solar charger and AC charger. This unit can operate receiving energy from any of its 3 inputs: AC, Solar, and Batteries. A perfect inverter for hybrid “off-Grid” applications with capacities of 5KVA.

A particular installation might accomplish with Inverter requirements but not with local directives and regulations.

Battery Connections It is recommended to install a Circuit Breaker that can open the battery circuit for connection and disconnection to the inverter and for maintenance tasks.

Select the input breaker with a rating 30% higher than the nominal current. Select cables according to the information in the table in this section.

OPERATION MODES This inverter can operate in 4 main modes: Stand-By: Connected to the input power sources (AC and/or Solar), but with the power switch in <OFF>. Power Saving: If enabled, it allows the inverter to shut off its output when the consumption is very low. Line: Connected to the input power sources (AC and/or Solar) and with the power switch in <ON>.

BATTERY EQUALIZATION The equalization function of the XSI has been included in the battery charger control to reverse negative chemical effects such as stratification, a condition where the acid concentration is higher at the bottom of the battery than at the top. Some of the values have been determined through laboratory tests, while others have been determined through calculations based on the discharge tables provided by the battery manufacturers. Backup times assume that Shutdown Voltage is 11.5VDC per battery.

It is recommended that the total recharge current (AC + Solar) never exceed 20% of the AH capacity of the battery bank (0.2C). For example, for a 100AH battery bank, a maximum total recharge current of 20A is recommended (100AH * 0.2).
  • Page 50 INDEX USER MANUAL – XSI-B-230V-5K ANNEX 3. BATTERY CHARGER XMART XSI-B-230V inverters come with 2 powerful internal battery chargers. First one is connected to the AC input, while second one is connected to solar input. Both can recharge batteries either simultaneously or separately, depending on the configuration of the inverter. CHARGERS SETTINGS: Chargers used by this inverter are of modern technology and can be configured to limit maximum recharge current according to the capacity of the battery bank connected to the inverter.

PARALLEL CONNECTION PARALLEL OPERATION This unit can operate in parallel to increase capacity or to provide redundancy and more reliability to the power supply of your installation. The maximum number of units that can be installed in parallel is 9, so the maximum capacity that can be achieved in a parallel system is 54KW/54KW.

  • Page 53 INDEX USER MANUAL – XSI-B-230V-5K MOUNTING THE UNITS Proceed to install the units (up to 9, maximum), placing them close to each other while maintaining the distances indicated in section 5. Installation of this manual, as shown in the following figure. This will ensure the necessary space for good ventilation of the units and heat dissipation.

AC LINES: AC inputs must be connected in parallel to each inverter. The same should be done with the AC outputs. It is recommended to use a circuit breaker and magnetic-thermal protector on the input and output phases of each inverter.
