Low Vision Aid System for Hemianopsia,
Spatial Neglect, and Tunnel Vision
Instructions for Use
Attaching the SideSight to the eyeglass frame
•
Attach the SideSight to the eyeglass frame on the side of the vision loss (for individuals with
severe tunnel vision it is possible to attach a SideSight to both sides of the eyeglass frame to
provide alerts to both sides). There are two eyeglass frame mounting adapters provided with each
SideSight.
We recommend avoiding the use of frames with very narrow or wire-shaped
temples.
1. The clip-on adapter uses a sturdy clip that will allow you to fully
remove the device from the eyeglass frame.
2. The Temple-mount adapter uses O-rings that slide over the temple
to attach the mounting adapter to the eyeglass frame temple. Only
one needs to be used for the wearer unless prescribed for tunnel
vision. This adapter will not work well on very narrow temples.
3. Once mounted slide the SideSight forward or backward on the temple so that the
SideSight is pointing as straight forward as possible- minimizing pointing inward or
outward.
Viewing Position Angle
The SideSight attaches to either mounting apparatus with strong magnets. You can remove the
•
SideSight from the mount by pulling it straight off. Simply grasp the SideSight from the middle of
the device and pull.
•
While standing with the head held in normal walking position adjust the angle
of the SideSight so it is as close to parallel to the floor as possible. You can
remove the SideSight from the mount and reposition it at an angle up or down
so position it as close to parallel to the floor as possible. The mounting design
provides 20 degrees of tilt up or down.
A selection of O-ring sizes are provided to allow you to
attach the proper size that will stretch over the eyeglass
frame temple to allow it to be held firmly in place on the temple.
