LENS HOOD
The Leica Summilux-M 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH. is equipped with a built-in, tele-
scopic lens hood (2). It can be locked by a slight counter-clockwise rotation
(looking from behind) in its extended working position so as to prevent it
being accidentally pushed back even if the lens is placed somewhere face
down. It should be used at all times as it shields effectively against contrast-
reducing stray light and offers additional protection for the front lens element
against damage or dirt such as raindrops and accidental fingerprints.
FILTERS
E46 screw-on filters can be used on the Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4
ASPH.. A corresponding UVa filter is available from Leica, as well as a UV/IR
filter specifically for the Leica M8. The universal polarizing filter can also be
used. The option of pivoting the filter in front of the viewfinder allows you to
control the effect through the camera's viewfinder without making any
additional settings.
