5. Move shift lever to forward position, and move
pintle control plate to fast forward (position shown
in figure 10). Be certain to hold the pintle control
plate in this position as you tighten the hex nuts
in steps 6 and 7.
6. Using a %" wrench, turn the center nut on pintle
control plate clockwise until it stops.
7. Tighten securely the two

hex nuts on the pintle
control plate.
8. Reassemble the ball joint assembly on the end of
the control rod to the speed control transfer
assembly.
9. Loosen the two lock nuts on the control rod.
10. Lock out the brake/speed control pedal (all the way
forward position).
11. Adjust the control rod so the pintle control
assembly firmly contacts the stop screw. Tighten
lock nuts on the control rod.
12. Check the brake adjustment as instructed in the
following section.
BRAKE ADJUSTMENT
During normal operation of this machine, the brakes
are subject to wear and will require periodic examina¬
tion and adjustment.

CAUTION
Do not adjust the brake while the
engine is running. Be sure to block
the wheels of the tractor before
making the brake adjustment.
To check the brake adjustment, move the cruise con¬
trol lever to slow position. Block the rear wheels off the
ground, and release the brake/speed control pedal. The
brake disc must be free. If adjustment is necessary, pro¬
ceed as follows.
Tighten the hex lock nut shown in figure 11, then back
it off until the brake disc is free. Test the brakes and
readjust if necessary.
