Sometimes problems can be solved easily by checking a few basic things. Check below before you call for
help or take your unit to your dealer.

Won't record
¢ Safety tab has been removed from cassette (VCR will automatically
eject the tape).
Won't play back
* Make sure the TV is set to the VCR channel or AUX (if using direct
audio/video connections).
Won't make timer recordings
The VCR power must be turned off to activate timer recording.

Clock is not set correctly.
Programmes entered incorrectly.
Programmes exceed the length of the cassette. Use the LP recording
speed for maximum programming.
Safety tab has been removed from cassette.
Snowy picture in playback
Snow or picture noise is normal during search, still, and slow
Playback.

Head cleaning may be required.
Tape is worn or of inferior quality - adjust tracking controls.
* Check antenna or cable connections.

is required to maintain optimum
VCR performance.

adjustments should not be attempted by the user. Please consult your service dealer for further information.
Auto Head Cleaning System
Touch to the video head
This system cleans the video heads automatically when a cassette is
inserted and ejected or the VCR is turned on or off while a cassette is in
the VCR, to prevent dirt from accumulating on the heads.
Note: Mechanical sound is heard during head cleaning.

Manual head cleaning
if the heads are still dirty, clean the heads manually as follows.

Insert a cassette and press the CHANNEL
A
(head cleaning) button on the VCR while , 7=
the VCR is in the standby mode. The cleaning roller cleans the heads. When the TV is
turned on, "HEAD CLEANING' will appear on the screen.
* When the CHANNEL

(head cleaning) button is pressed once, the head cleaning
operation is performed once. (It takes about 10 seconds)
* If dirt cannot be removed, perform the cleaning operation several times.

If dirt cannot be removed when the head cleaning operation is performed several
times, consult your dealer.
* Mechanical sound is heard slightly during head cleaning.
