SECTION 2
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
2-1. GENERAL INFORMATION
The
CVC-2100A
uses
three
Printed
Circuit
Boards
and one RF Block. If you hold the camera with the
lens
facing you, the Video
Board
(V) is at the right
side front, the Deflection Board (D) is at the left side,
the Power
Board (P) is at the right side rear, and the
shielded Modulator (RF) Block is at the left rear.
The
vidicon is mounted
inside
a coil assembly di-
rectly behind the lens mount. This coil assembly con-
tains
the focus
coil (outer)
and the deflection
coils
(inner) sharing a common axis.
Video
output
from
the vidicon
is obtained
from a
spring connector that contacts
the target ring at the
lens end of the vidicon. This signal is routed directly
to the Video Board where
all of the video amplifi-
cation
takes
place.
Automatic
sensitivity
control
circuits are also found on the V board.
The Power Supply Board (P) contains the 14-volt regu-
lated supply, the focus-current
supply and the high-
voltage and bias supplies for the vidicon.
Beam intensity is controlled by the rear-panel BEAM
control (vidicon bias). Spot focus is controlled by the
rear-panel
FOCUS
control which
sets the current
in
the focus coil.
The
Deflection
Board
(D) contains
the
deflection
oscillators
and power
stages that supply deflection
currents
to the windings
on the deflection yoke. In
addition, blanking and sync signals are developed
in
the D board.
;
The deflection oscillators
are normally free-running.
However,
they are
locked
up on the
precise
sync
signals provided by the Videocorder (VTR motor run-
ning) to provide a 2:1 interlaced signal in the VTR
mode
of operation. In the VIDEO
and RF modes of
operation
the vertical
oscillator is synchronized
by
the power-line frequency and the horizontal oscillator
runs
free.
This
provides
a stable,
random-interlace
picture.
The Modulator (RF) Block contains a VHF oscillator
that can be tuned to the picture-carrier frequencies of
channels
2, 3 or 4. A diode AM modulator modulates
the VHF carrier with the camera's video to
provide
in excess
of 5 millivolts
r-f output on the selected
channel.
