IF FUNCTION - When several radio
stations are situated close together on the
FM frequency band, a station with a
strong signal can interfere with a weak
adjacent station. In order to receive the
weaker station properly, a modified IF
(Intermediate
Frequency)
filter
is
required. The IF function switches in a
narrow bandwidth filter, allowing the
Delta 280 to receive the weaker station's
signal satisfactorily.
To select the IF function, press the IF
button.
The IF LED will glow green.
To cancel, press the IF button again.
AUTO
- Selects automatic or manual
tuning (see below). The led will glow
amber when AUTO is selected. If the
led is not lit manual tuning is selected.
V A - Press to tune up or down through
the FM frequency band.
In AUTO
tuning mode the frequency display will
stop automatically at a station with a
suitably strong signal. In manual tuning
mode press and hold v or A until the
desired frequency is displayed.
DISPLAY - The FM frequency display,
signal strength meter and AUTO LED
can be turned off by pressing DISPLAY.
To restore the display, press DISPLAY
again.
Please Note:
The two digit preset
number display and the other LEDs are
not affected by the DISPLAY function.

stations into the preset memory.
To
preset stations press STORE and while
the led glows red, press the desired

ten presets. Choose the required bank
by pressing the SHIFT button. Presets
1-10 can be selected when the SHIFT
led is off and presets 11-20 when the led
is on.
Note: After pressing SHIFT to change
the preset bank it will still be necessary
to press the required preset button to
change channel.
SCAN - Plays approximately 5 seconds
of each of the 20 presets in turn. If you
wish to continue listening to one of the
scanned stations, press the relevant preset
button.

v
(tune down) will cancel the SCAN
function.
PRESET BUTTONS
- Once all the
stations
have
been
preset into
the
memory,
simply press
the relevant
button to select the desired stations.
Use
SHIFT
when
selecting preset
stations 11-20.
POWER - Switches the unit on and off.
PRESET
DISPLAY
- Displays
the
preset number of the selected station.
SIGNAL
STRENGTH
METER
-
Indicates signal strength of the selected
station.
As several radio stations are
available on more than one frequency,
use the signal strength meter to help you
locate the best position for each station.
As a guide, two amber leds and two
green leds will give adequate stereo
reception.
All eight leds will give the
best stereo reception with the least
possible background noise.
In most
cases, you will need to use a roof
mounted aerial connected to the tuner
with a good quality low loss 75ohm co-
axial cable to achieve the best results.
The simple wire dipole aerial provided is
only suitable for reception of strong local
stations.
