Use two linear
diode peak
detectors
to produce
two- 1000-cycle
voltages proportional,
r espectively, to amplifier input
and
out
-
put rf
voltages.
The
two BNC-to-BNC
cables supplied
with the
Model 416A are
suitable for
making
the following
connections
be
-
tween each detector
and
the
Model
416A.
( 1} Connect one detector
so
that it monitors
the
signal input
to
the
amplifier
.
(This
connection
must
be made between
the signal
generator and
the
input
to the
attenuator
(see
Fig.
17 ]. } Connect the
output
of this detector
to the

input.
(2) Connect
the other detecto
r
so
that it monitors
the output
of
the
amplifie
r.
The output
of this
detector w
ill
be
con-
nected to
the Model
416A REFLECTED/PROBE input,
but
is
not
to
be connected at
this time.
e,
Check that
the signal input
(reference
voltage) is within
the
opera-
ting
limits of
the Model
416A.
The RF
POWER
MONITOR
(tuning
eye}
permits
a
simple
check as to
the correctness
of
the modulating
frequency
and magnitude of
the signal
generator
output
voltage.
A
procedure similar
to that
given
in
step 4 of Operating
Procedure
for
Slotted
Lines,
above,
may be
us
e
d
to
make this check.
