    Before Using the Machine Device Components Front Component Function Power Switch Powers on/off the printer. Control Panel Buttons and touch screen to operate the printer. Refer For detailed information about the control panel, refer to “Reference Guide - Operations”. Left Cover Open this cover to clear paper jams.

    Important Paper weight 52 to 400 g/m can be loaded for some of the types although they are not supported; In this  case the image quality and paper feed performance cannot be guaranteed. For coated paper, we only guarantee printing on paper weighing 72 g/m or heavier.

    Basic Operations of the Machine Loading Paper After loading the paper, be sure to set the information of the loaded paper in [Tray Settings] window on Media Library Manager. Important Do not place paper or other objects in the reserved space of the tray. It may cause paper jams or machine malfunction.

    Outputting Paper Printed Side A printed side is the side of paper where an image is printed for 1-sided printing (or page 1 for 2- sided printing). Which printed side to be used is specified on your Print Server. For detailed information on how to regard the method of specification, refer to customer documentation supplied with Print Servers.

    Offsetting Note This feature applies to Offset Catch Tray only. Long Catch Tray cannot be used to offset outputs. Each set of printed paper is staggered in the output tray so that you can separate the stack easily. Which offsetting to be used is specified on your Print Server.     Maintenance Consumables Consumables recommended by our company are manufactured under the standards suitable for this machine. Using consumables not recommended by our company may affect print quality or performance provided by the product. Use consumables that our company recommends for this machine.
  • Page 29: Toner Cartridges

    Refer For information on toner cartridges and waste toner containers, refer to "Safety Notes" in the "User's Manual". Toner Cartridges Open the toner cover. Gently pull out the toner cartridge of the color displayed in the message, holding the bottom of the cartridge. Important Pull out the toner cartridge gently.

    Waste Toner Container The waste toner container collects residual toner left on the drum after printing. When it is time to replace a toner container, a message appears on the error message area telling you that the toner container should be replaced. Open the upper center cover, then the lower center cover.

    Outside the Main Unit Exterior Wipe the exterior with a soft, moistened, and tightly-squeezed cloth. When stains cannot be removed easily, wipe them lightly with the soft cloth slightly moistened with a thin neutral detergent solution. Wipe the moisture off with a dry soft cloth.     Paper Jams If there is a paper jam, the printing will be canceled. The Error Message area of the touch screen will show the affected area in red, along with the message. If the paper jams, remove the jammed paper following the on-screen instructions. Gently remove the paper being careful not to tear it.

Note If the paper is curled and caught in the Transfer Module, stop pulling when the jammed paper is visible, and then continue to pull it out while holding down the paper with a hand. Remove jammed papers.

    Push the transfer unit completely to the back ( ) and turn the lever [2] to the left ( Close the left cover, then the upper center cover. Paper Tray Follow the steps below to clear paper jams in Tray. Pull out the Tray where the paper jam occurred toward you until it stops.

    Cooling Unit Follow the steps below to clear paper jams in the Cooling Unit. Open the right side cover of the printer unit. Turn the lever [4] to the right until it is horizontal. Grip lever [4] and gently pull out the cooling unit toward you until it stops.

Push the cooling unit gently into the machine until it stops Turn the lever [4] to the left ( Close the right cover. Right Cover Follow the steps below to clear paper jams inside the right cover.

  • Page 43 Long paper Long paper (lightweight paper, especially) can easily be torn during removal of the paper sheet. Be sure to cut the jammed paper sheet with scissors or a cutter before you can remove the cut sheets. When paper remains on the Paper Tray 5 (Bypass) of High Capacity Feeder Open the Upper Cover of the Paper Tray 5 (Bypass) and remove the jammed paper.
  • Page 44 When paper is jammed in delivery unit Note When long paper is jammed, the error indicator and/or message displayed on the details screen may be different from the actual jam state. For this reason, make sure to perform paper jam processing on all the devices in which paper may remain.
