IDLE SOLENOID REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

Service and repair should be performed by only Lincoln Electric factory trained personnel. Unauthorized
repairs performed on this equipment may result in danger to the technician or machine operator and will
invalidate your factory warranty. For your safety and to avoid electrical shock, please observe all safety
notes and precautions detailed throughout this manual. If for any reason you do not understand the test
procedures or are unable to perform the test/repairs safely, contact the Lincoln Electric Service Department
for electrical troubleshooting assistance before you proceed. Call 1-888-935-3877.
TEST DESCRIPTION
This procedure will aid the technician in the removal and replacement of the Idle Solenoid.
MATERIALS NEEDED
5/16" Nutdriver
Wiring Diagram
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Turn off the engine on the Ranger 305G EFI machine.
2. Perform the Case Cover Removal Procedure.
3. Perform the Capacitor Discharge Procedure.
4. Label and disconnect leads 215 and 210C from the idle solenoid. See Figure F.33. See Wiring
Diagram.
5. Using a 5/16" nutdriver, remove the four screws securing the idle solenoid to the stator frame. See
Figure F.34.
6. Carefully slide the solenoid off of the plunger. See Figure F.34.
7. The idle solenoid can now be removed and replaced.
REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
1. Carefully slide the solenoid over the plunger.
2. Carefully position the idle solenoid onto the stator frame.
3. Using a 5/16" nutdriver, attach the four screws securing the idle solenoid to the stator frame.
4. Connect leads 215 and 210C to the idle solenoid. See Wiring Diagram.
5. Perform the Case Cover Replacement Procedure.
6. Perform the Retest After Repair Procedure.
