If your Tucor remote control radio was ordered without an FCC-licensed frequency, you are now
able to change the frequency of the internal transceiver. This includes the RFA-100-P,
RFA-100-F, and RKD-RFA. Since the frequencies are in the VHF unlicensed band, there may
be occasions when local radio chatter makes it desirable to try different frequencies. This Tech
Note describes the method. There are 5 - 16 different frequencies available, depending upon the
model. Note that all handhelds shipped with the RFA will also have all frequencies programmed
and selectable.
To change the frequency, follow these steps:
1) Power off the RFA.
2) Remove the RFA's cover. There are usually four screws holding the cover in place. On
the RFA-100-F the screws are covered by four tabs. These may be carefully pried up at
the corners with a small, flat-bladed screwdriver.
On the RFA-100-P, you must remove the cover over the waterproof case to access the
transceiver.
3) Remove the four screws holding the cover on the transceiver.
An RFA-100-F is shown in the photo, but the other RFAs are similar.
4) There is a small red block with four "dip" switches. Set the switches according to the
chart below, based upon the new frequency you want. The frequencies are designated as
"A" through "E".
