SETUP & BASIC PLAYBACK
- Setting Up Your DOM-30
System and Playing Back a Disk Orchestra Collection Disk (Sold Separately) --
This section provides brief instructions on using the DOM-30 with
a Clavinova to play back a Disk Orchestra Collection or Disklavier
disk.
The brief instructions given here are by no means complete. Be sure
to read the "3. PLAYBACK"
section beginning on page 4 for
detailed coverage of all DOM-30 playback features. Read the entire
manual
thoroughly
before
attempting to use the DOM-30
for
recording.
1. Connect the DOM-30 and Clavinova
The illustration below shows the standard playback connections
for the DOM-30
and a Yamaha
Clavinova. Using the MIDI
cable provided, the MIDI
OUT
terminal of the DOM-30
is
connected to the MIDI IN terminal of the Clavinova. The LINE
OUT L and R jacks of the DOM-30
are connected
to the
OPTIONAL
IN (L and R) or AUX IN (L and R) jacks of the
Clavinova (L to L, R to R) using the supplied stereo pin-jack
cable.

With these connections the sound of the DOM-30 voices is
reproduced via the Clavinova's speakers in addition to the
Clavinova sound. If you will be using a Clavinova that does not
have OPTIONAL
IN or AUX
IN jacks (CVP-3/5/6/7/8), the
LINE OUT (L and R) jacks of the DOM-30 can be connected
directly to the inputs of a stereo sound system or audio mixer.
e if you will be using the DOM-30 alone to play back Disk Orchestra
Collection disks (i.e. no keyboard), simply connect the LINE OUT
(L and R) jacks to a stereo sound system using the stereo pin-jack
cable provided.
2. Set the SEND CHANNEL Switch
The SEND
CHANNEL
switch on the DOM-30
rear panel
should
be set according
to your
system
and playback
re-
quirements.
If you have connected the DOM-30 to a Clavinova as described
above, the SEND CHANNEL
switch should normally be set to
the "1-2" position. In this position the channel-1 and channel-2
parts (usually the right- and left-hand keyboard parts, respec-
tively) will be reproduced using the Clavinova voices rather
than the DOM-30's own internal voices. All other parts will be
played using the DOM-30 voices.
If you want the channel-1
and channel-2 parts to be played
using the internal
DOM-30
voices,
the SEND
CHANNEL
switch should be set to ""ALL."" Also make sure that no MIDI
cable is connected to the DOM-30 MIDI OUT connector.

. Turn the Clavinova ON
Make sure the Clavinova AC plug is properly connected to a
convenient AC outlet, then turn the POWER
switch ON.
. Connect the DOM-30
Power Adapter and Turn the
Power ON
Plug the DC output cable from the AC adapter into the
DOM-30 DC-IN jack, then plug the adapter's AC plug into a
convenient AC outlet. Turn the DOM-30
power switch ON.
If your
Clavinova
is a CLP-20/30/50/100/200/300/500
or
CVP-3/5/6/7/8/10, turn the DOM-30 power switch ON while
holding the FUNCTION button (this automatically activates a
special Touch Change function that provides the best sound
when Disk Orchestra Collection disks or Disklavier software is
played back using these models).
POWER
Note: When using a CLP-20/30/50/100/200/300/500 or CVP-3/5/
6/7/8/10 to play back Disk Orchestra Collection disks, use
the Clavinova panel controls to change the playback voice if
necessary.
. Insert Disk
Insert the Disk Orchestra Collection disk into the DOM-30 disk
drive. Insert the disk with the metallic door facing the drive slot
and the disk label facing upwards. Press the disk in firmly until
it clicks into place and the disk drive lamp lights for a few
seconds.
