SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS - Readbeforeoperatingequipment
Thisproduct w as designed and manufactured to meetstrictquality and
safetystandards. Thereare, however, s omeinstallation and operation
precautions which youshould beparticularly aware of.
1.
Readinstructions - Allthesafety andoperating i nstructions should
beread before theappliance i soperated.
2.
RetainInstructions - Thesafety andoperating instructions s hould
beretained f orfuturereference.
3.
HeedWarnings - Allwarnings o ntheappliance a ndin theoperating
instructions should beadhered to.
4.
FollowInstructions - Alloperating and useinstructions s houldbe
followed.
5.
WaterandMoisture - Theappliance s houldnotbeusednearwater
- for example, neara bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink,laundry tub,
in a wetbasement or near a swimming pool,etc.

Carts andStands - Theappliance s hould be used onlywitha cartor
stand thatisrecommended bythemanufacturer.

with care. Quickstops,excessive force,and uneven
surfaces maycausetheappliance a ndcartcombination
tooverturn.

Wall or CeilingMounting - Theappliance s hould be mounted to a
wallorceiling onlyas recommendedby themanufacturer.
8.
Ventilation - Theappliance s hould besituated sothatitslocation or
position doesnotinterfere with itsproperventilation. Forexample,
theappliance s houldnotbesituated on a bed,sofa,rug,or similar
surface that may blockthe ventilation openings; o r, placedin a
built-in installation, suchas a bookcase o r cabinetthat mayimpede
theflowofair through theventilation o penings.

Heat- Theappliance shouldbe situated awayfrom hear sources
such as radiators,heat registers,stoves,or other appliances
(including a mplifiers) thatproduce h eat.
10. PowerSources- The appliance shouldbe connected to a power
supply onlyofthe.type described i n theoperating instructions or as
marked ontheapphance.
11. Power-Cord Protection - Powersupply cordsshouldbe routed so
thattheyare notlikelyto bewalkedonor pinched byltemsplaced
upon or againstthem, payingparticular attentionto cordsand
plugs, c onvenience receptacles, andthe point wheretheyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning - Theappliance shouldbecleaned onlyas recommended
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines- An outdoor antennashouldbe located awayfrom
powerlines.
14. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If an outside antenna isconnected t o
the receiver,be sure the antennasystemis groundedso as to
provide someprotection against v oltage surgesand builtup static
charges.
Section 810 of theNational E lectric Code,ANSI/NFPA No.70-1984,
provides i nformation w ith respect t o propergrounding of themats
and supportingstructure groundingof the lead-in wire to an
antenna discharge unit,size of grounding connectors, location of
antenna-discharoe unit, connection to grounding electrodes and
requirements for thegrounding e lectrode. SeeFig. b elow.
15. Non-usePeriods- The powercord of the appliance shouldbe
unplugged f rom the outletwhenleft unused for a long periodof
time.
16. Objectand LiquidEntry- Careshouldbetaken sothatobjects do
not fall and liquidsare not spilled intothe enclosurethrough
openings.
17. Damage Requiring Service- Theappliance s houldbe serviced by
qualified s ervice personnel when:
A. Thepower supply cordor theplughasbeen damaged; or
B. Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the
appliance; or
C. Theappliance h asbeen exposed to rain; o r
D. Theappliance d oesnotappear to operatenormally o r exhibits
a marked change in performance; or
E.
Theappliance h asbeen dropped, or theenclosure d amaged.
18. Servicing - The usershouldnot attemptto servicetheappliance
beyondthat describedin the operatinginstructions. A I/other
servicing s hould bereferred to qualified service personnel.
Note to the CATVsystem installer: This reminder isprovided to call the
CATV system Installer's attention to Article 820-40 of the NEC that
providesguidelinesfor propergroundingand, in particular,specifiesthat
the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the
building,as closeto the pointof cableentryas practical.
