SUPPLY
Battery supply
e Open the battery compartment (fig. 2) and insert as
indicated six batteries, type R20, UM1 or D-cells.
e Remove the batteries if exhausted or if they will not be
used again for a long period.
Note: The battery supply is automatically switched off
when the set is connected to the mains. When changing
over to battery supply, pull out the plug from the MAINS
socket (3.
Mains supply
e Check if the mains voltage as shown on the type plate
corresponds to your local mains supply. If it does not,
consult your dealer or service organisation.
If the set is equipped with a voltage selector @, set this
selector to the local mains voltage.
e Connect the mains lead to the MAINS socket @ and
the wall socket. The mains supply is now switched on.
e To disconnect the set from the mains completely,
withdraw the mains plug from the wall socket.
Important note for users in U.K.:
When fitting a mains plug to the mains lead proceed as follows:
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the
following code: Blue = Neutral, Brown = Live.
These colours may not correspond with the colour markings
identifying the terminals in your plug, so proceed as follows:
Connect the Brownwire to the terminal marked Lor coloured Red.
Connect the Blue wire to the terminal marked N or coloured Black.
No connection is necessary to the earth terminal.
Note: This apparatus must be protected by a 3 Amp Fuse if a
13 Amp plugis used or, ifany other type of plugis used, by a 5 Amp
Fuse either in the plug or adapter or at the distribution board. If in
doubt consult a qualified electrician.
OPERATION
Switching the power on and off
The set is switched on and off with MODE selector ©.
The set is switched off when MODE selector © is in
position [3] or [4] TAPE/RADIO OFF and the recorder
buttons are released.

The desired sound source for reproduction or recording
is selected using MODE selector (6).
e [1] RADIO ON for:
- radio reception
- radio recording on deck B
e [2] MICROPHONE for:
- mono recording from the built-in microphone MIC @
(set the VOLUME control © to zero)
e [3] *) NORMAL SPEED DUBBING for:
- normal speed copying ('dubbing') from deck A to B
e [2] *) HIGH SPEED DUBBING for:
- high speed copying ('dubbing') from deck A to B
*) When not recording or copying, the positions [3] and
[4] have the same function:
1. TAPE (cassette):
- cassette playback on deck A or deck B (or both)
- continuous play AB': playback of deck A, at the end
of the cassette automatically followed by playback of
deck B
2. RADIO OFF: the radio is switched off
3. the set is switched off if the recorder buttons are
released

Radio reception
e Set MODE selector © to [+] RADIO ON.
e Set BAND selector © to the desired wave-band.
e Adjust the sound with VOLUME control ©.
You may connect stereo headphones with @ 3.5 mm
plug to socket ©) N- The loudspeakers are then muted.
e Tune to a radio station using TUNING knob ().
(SW and LW not on all versions).
- For FM-reception, pull out the telescopic aerial. To
improve FM-reception, incline and turn the aerial.
Reduce its length if the FM-signal is too strong (very
close to a transmitter).
- For AM/MW and LW reception (Medium and Long
