SUPPLY
Battery supply
e Open the battery compartment (fig. 2) and insert as
indicated six batteries, type R20, UM1 or D-cells.
e Remove the batteries if exhausted or if they will not be
used again for a long period.
Note: The battery supply is automatically switched off
when the setis connected to the mains. When changing
over to battery supply, pull out the plug from the MAINS
socket (3.
Mains supply
e Check if the mains voltage as shown on the type plate
corresponds to your local mains supply. If it does not,
consult your dealer or service organisation.
if the set is equipped with a VOLTAGE selector 43, set
this selector to the local mains voltage.
e Connect the mains lead to the MAINS socket (3 and
the wall socket. The mains supply is now switched on.
e To disconnect the set from the mains completely,
withdraw the mains plug from the wall socket. *
Important note for users in U.K-
When fitting a mains plug to the mains lead proceed as follows:
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the
following code: Blue = Neutral, Brown = Live.
These colours may not correspond with the colour markings
identifying the terminals in your plug, so proceed as follows:
Connect the Brownwire to the terminal marked Lorcoloured Red.
Connect the Blue wire to the terminal marked Norcoloured Black.
No connection is necessary to the earth terminal.
Note: This apparatus must be protected by a 3 Amp Fuse if a
13 Amp plugis used or, ifany other type of plugis used, bya 5 Amp
Fuse either in the plug or adapter or at the distribution board. if in
doubt consult a qualified electrician.
CONNECTIONS
Stereo headphone socket © 4)
For stereo headphones with 3.5 mm plug. Inserting the
plug will disconnect the loudspeakers.
Loudspeaker sockets (3 SPEAKERS
For the supplied loudspeakers
(or others with an
impedance of 4-8 Ohms). See fig.3 for removing and
fixing the supplied loudspeakers.
OPERATION
ON/OFF-MODE selector &
The desired sound source for reproduction orrecording
is selected using ON/OFF-MODE selector ©.
The setis switched off when ON/OFF-MODE selector G)
is in position RADIO OFF/TAPE (3), [2] or (1) and the
recorder buttons are released.
Radio and cassette playback
Set the ON/OFF-MODE selector (3) to:
[4]RADIO ON for switching on the radio;
(3], [2] or [1] RADIO OFF for switching off the radio;
[2]or [1] TAPE for cassette playback:
- playback on deck B or deck A (or both);
- CONTINUOUS play A«B: playback of deck B, at the
end of the cassette automatically followed by play-
back of deck A.
Recording and dubbing
Set the ON/OFF-MODE selector (3) to:
[s]RADIO ON for a radio recording on deck A;
[8] MIC (=RADIO OFF) for a mono recording on deck
A from the built-in microphone

SPEED
DUBBING
for normal
speed
copying from deck B to A;
[1] HIGH SPEED DUBBING for high speed copying from
deck B to A.
RADIO RECEPTION
e Set the ON/OFF-MODE selector © to [4] RADIO ON.
` e Adjust the sound with the controls VOLUME © and
GRAPHIC EQUALIZER ©.
e Select the wave band using BAND selector ©.
