OPERATION OF AUTOMATIC TURNTABLE
ADJUSTMENT
OF STYLUS
PRESSURE
The stylus pressure control
is interlocked with the anti-skating control
device for complete compensation
of the skating force. Before playing
records, set these control devices in the following steps.
1. Turn
the stylus perssure control
(inner knob) and the anti-skating
force control
(outer knob)
counterclockwise
by hand, and set the O-
mark reading on the outer knob to the red mark on the inner knob as
shown in Fig. 14.
2.
Remove the stylus guard from the cartridge and release the arm lock
3. Turn
the counterweight in either direction by hand to balance the
tonearm in a plane parallel to the plane of the turntable platter.
4.
Return the tonearm onto the arm rest by hand and lock it.
5. Turn the stylus pressure control
(inner knob) clockwise to set its
"3" reading to the base line provided
on the tonearm
supporter, for
instance. This means
that the stylus pressure has been set at 3 grams.
Since
the anti-skating
control
(outer
knob)
is interlocked
with
the
stylus pressure control, the anti-skating
control
will automatically be
set to "3".
INSERTING SPINDLE
1. Two
kinds of spindles are furnished; the long one is for automatic
multiple play; the short one, for manual single play.
2. Each of the spindles has two small projections on a line, one on the
upper part and the other on the lower part, and the spindle hole in the
center of the turntable platter is provided with a groove to accept the
projections.
Insert
either
spindle
in the spindle
hole,
matching
the
projection on the lower part to the groove as shown in Fig. 15. Rotate
the
spindle
90 degrees
clockwise,
depressing
it slightly.
Then,
the
spindle will be set properly.
3. When
removing
the spindle, rotate it 90 degrees counterclockwise
and pull it out.
Note:
Do not try to change the spindle while the turntable is rotating.
Such
a practice will become
a major cause of trouble to your
equipment.
ADJUSTING TURNTABLE SPEED
Adjust the turntable speed accurately by the following steps.
1. Set the single play spindle.
2. Place a 33-rpm record on the turntable and then place the furnished
stroboscope on it as illustrated in Fig. 16.
3. Set the speed selector lever to ''33''.
4.
Move the command
control
lever to "Start'', and the turntable will
start rotating.
5. Adjust the fine speed control fever so that the lines for 33-1/3 rpm
on the stroboscope will appear to remain stationary.
Note:
If the fine speed
control
lever is moved
to the right (to '+'
mark) the turntable runs faster, and if it is moved to the left (to
"_"' mark) the turntable runs slower.
6. When
the fine speed adjustment
is complete, move
the command
control lever to '"Stop''. The turntable will come to a stop.
Note:
Do not try to make the above-mentioned fine speed adjustment
in the daylight.
It is recommended
that a fluorescent
light be
used even in the daytime.
