OPERATION
• Before commencing ogeralion, check lo see If sJI con*
nectione a/e properly made.
* Before luming on ihe power in the unit, always be sure
to turn down the preamplifier votume control to minimum.

3. Reproduce a desired source, and raise the volume level
on the preampiifler.
HUM AND NOISE
In any high fidelity ineiallaiion, hum may be caused by the
irtterconnecbon of a lurr^table. tuner and amptifier, ar)d speak*
ers as the result ol wiring, dilfereni grounding or locations of
componertis.
If hum is experienced with your unit, disconrtect everything
bul ihe speakers from the unit. Plug in the turniabie and if
hum or howling appears, move the turnlaPte away Irom Ihe
speakers as much as possible.
Ncle hum may also be Induced by defective cable con nee-
tions or by running the cables too close lo strong AC field.
When your uhH picks up rtpise during the reception ol broad*
casts, causes are mostly dua to external objects such as
fluorescent lamps and iTouse appliances using motor or iher*
mostai, or others that may induce the r>ol$e.
Siher reiocaiing the unii away from ihe noise sources or using
an improved outdoor antenna may readily solve the problem.
In the event you cannot find the cause, consult your dealer
or a qualined eleci/ician.
PROTECTION CIRCUIT
The RB*990&X Incorporates thermal protector to prevent
accident or damage. If lor some reason the protection cir*
cult Is actevated, there will be a sudden cut'Off of sound from
the speakers, end the protection indicator will light up.
If no sound Is produced, the reason may be due to the lune*
tioning of the protection circuit. First, turn off the power and
disconnect the plug Irom the electrical outlet. Then locate and
remedy the cause of the trouble. When the thermal pro*
tecior is activated, the unit will start functioning automati¬
cally alter the temperature is lowered again.
If the protection circuit is activated again despite taking the
above action, cut off the power supply from your enure audio
system and consult your dealer or a qualified electrician.
Note: The protection circuit vrill normally operate to prevent
a popping noise Irom being generated upon turning on the
power. No sound is produced for several seconds after
turn*on.
