APPLEWORKS
The AppleWorks integrated package allows documents,
spreadsheets and databases to be printed either on a printer, or to a
disk file. Even if you intend to print to disk, you must first set up
AppleWorks for your particular printer. Otherwise, when you come to
print the disk file on a printer at a later date, the file will not be in the
correct format.

AppleWorks can support the Epson MX, RX and FX series
printers. To set up AppleWorks for one of these printers, select Other
Activities from the Main Menu and then Specify Information About Your
Printer from the Other Activities Menu. Refer to the AppleWorks
reference manual for full details of adding and removing printers. You
can always re-install a printer at a later date if you wish.
When you add a printer, you will be asked which slot the printer
interface is in. Answer

l.
You can then set
some of the printer options from a menu. The #8133 sends.out a line
feed with every carriage return, so you should set the Line Feed After
Each Return option to NO.
AppleWorks does not allow control commands to be inserted
directly into a file. This means you cannot use most of the commands
described in this manual, or do bit image printing within a document,
without first setting up a custom printer and making one of the
AppleWorks control codes (superscript or subscript, for example) into
a <CTRL>-1 character. If you do this, you can then use the interface
commands by inserting the appropriate AppleWorks control command,
and then typing the part of the command which should follow the
<CTRL>·l in normal characters as part of the file.
If
you do not want to do anything more than print using the facilities
provided by AppleWorks, you need only install the printer you are
using. You can then use the standard AppleWorks commands, for
example <CTRL>-B to turn bold type on or off, as described in the
AppleWorks manual, and you need not bother with the commands
described in this manual.
