If you sell or transfer the equipment, be sure to hand over this manual to the new owner. If the manual is lost or damaged, you can request a new one from your Avant dealer or from the manufacturer.
5 (38) Warning symbols used in this manual The following warning symbols are used throughout this manual. They indicate factors that must be taken into account to reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to property: WARNING SAFETY ALERT SYMBOL This symbol means: “Warning, be alert! Your safety is involved!”...
The Sand spreader can be filled manually, and also by loading with the loader boom, working in a similar way as with a normal bucket. These wider spreader models are best suited for larger AVANT loaders, which can handle greater loads with ease. The Sand spreader 1500/2000 is intended to be mounted on the front of the loader only.
7 (38) 3. Safety instructions for using the attachment Please bear in mind that safety is the result of several factors. The loader-attachment combination is highly powerful and improper or careless use or maintenance may cause serious personal injury or property damage.

8 (38) Never leave the driver’s seat when the Sand spreader is running or when the auxiliary hydraulics control lever of the loader is locked on. Keep a safety distance of at least two meters from activated attachment and other persons. Shut down the loader engine and release any residual pressure before filling the Sand spreader manually or going near it.
9 (38) Crushing hazard - Never allow anyone to get under a lifted attachment or loader boom. Keep in mind that the loader boom can be lowered or tilted even if the engine has WARNING been shut down. The loader is not intended to be left to keep a load elevated for longer periods.

13 (38) 4.2 Lifting Make sure that the attachment is properly secured against unintended movements during lifting operation. Use appropriate type of lifting accessories, lifting straps, chains or hooks, for example. Do not use lifting accessories if there are signs of damage, deformation, or otherwise unsafe conditions.
A rear lift device for some loader models may WARNING become available after publication of this manual. Ask your Avant dealer for more information about the availability of rear installation options, and for instructions about how to install and use rear lift devices.

If your loader is not listed in Table 1 on page , ask your Avant dealer before using this attachment.
5.1 Connecting and disconnecting hydraulic hoses On Avant loaders the hydraulic hoses are connected using the multi connector system. If you have an older model Avant 300-700 series loader with the conventional quick couplers, and you want to change to the multi connector system, contact your Avant dealer or service point for instructions or installation services.
17 (38) Releasing residual hydraulic pressure: In case residual pressure is left in the hydraulic system of the attachment, it is often possible to disconnect the hydraulic couplings, but it may be difficult to connect them the next time. If the fittings will not connect, the residual pressure must be released by turning the auxiliary hydraulics control lever of the loader, when the engine is turned off.

18 (38) If your loader is equipped with the Opticontrol ®, the Attachment control switch pack, and the loader is manufactured after 2016: electric socket integrated multiconnector, electric harness attachment is connected when the multiconnector is coupled. Clean both multiconnectors before connecting the multiconnector.
19 (38) 6. Operating the attachment Check the attachment and the operating environment once more before starting to work, and that all obstacles have been removed from the operating area. Quick inspection of the equipment and the operating area before use are parts of ensuring safety and the best performance of the equipment.
20 (38) Risk of falling from height and crushing under an attachment or loader - Never use the attachment as a lifting platform or to carry people. Never use the loader or WARNING its attachments to lift persons or as any kind of work platform even temporarily.
21 (38) 6.2 Checks before use Before starting work, remove larger obstacles from the working area. Remove larger sand clogs or split them into smaller pieces for more even spreading and to prevent blockages. Check that the screen mesh guards are installed and all their bolts are fitted tightly. Never use the ...
22 (38) 6.4 Operating the sand spreader Additional counterweights may be needed on the loader. See the operator's manual of the loader for the tipping load and the operating capacity of the loader. The Sand spreader is operated by moving the auxiliary hydraulics control lever of the loader (or by pressing buttons of the electric joystick, if equipped).
23 (38) 6.4.1 Adjustments 6.4.1.1 Grain size Adjust the spreader according to the grain size of the sand. Set the adjustment lever to one of the seven options. For small-grain material use setting 1, for the large grain size use 7. 6.4.1.2 Hydraulic flow control The Sand spreader is equipped with a hydraulic flow control valve for more accurate control of the...
24 (38) 6.4.2 Filling the Sand spreader Filling from a silo The bucket can be filled by loading from a silo, as shown in the adjacent figure, or from a pile like a normal bucket. Keep the bucket on the ground or just off the ground and close to the loader when filling from third part equipment as shown in the adjacent...
25 (38) Scoop the bucket full by simultaneous driving forward, tilting, and lifting the bucket. Once the bucket is almost full, lift the bucket with loader boom. Keep driving slowly forward. 6.4.3 Transport position Keep the loader stable. Always transport the attachment as low and close to the ground as possible.
1,8 - 2,0 Salt (NaCl) 2,1 - 2,3 Crushed rock (large rocks) 1,65 - 2,6 Example: Sand spreader 1500 mm (A458004): Volume of bucket 640 l Empty weight 340 kg Material: Crushed, small grain rock for sanding: estimated density 1,5 kg / l The weight of the load, depending on the actual density of the material, can be calculated as follows: 1,5 kg/l * 640 l + 340 kg.
27 (38) 6.5 Options 6.5.1 Protective cover Fit the protective cover as shown in the adjacent figure. 1. Fasten the mounting pins (1) [4 pcs]. 2. Mount the cover with rubber straps (2).
28 (38) 6.5.2 Electric spreading adjustment Install the electric actuator (1) of the spreading rate adjustment as follows: 1. Undo the valve (7) from the sand spreader. Do not remove the hoses. 2. Install the mounting bracket (5) under the valve (7) with its own fixing screws.
Page 29
29 (38) 6.5.2.1 Using the electric adjustment Controlling the electric spreading adjustment with separate electric harness: A cable harness with a 2-way switch is delivered with the attachment. Use the switch to increase or to decrease the spreading rate. Keep the switch in the cab so that it is easily accessible, but will not be used inadvertently.
30 (38) 6.6 Storing the attachment 6.6.1 Short term storage Uncouple and store the attachment on level surface. The best way to store the attachment is a place where it is protected from direct sunlight, rain, and extreme temperatures. Make sure that the attachment is secured against all movements during storage.
31 (38) 6.6.2 Long term storage When storing the Sand spreader for longer periods than temporary uncoupling from the loader, the attachment must be stored on its front side against a flat surface as shown in the adjacent figure. Uncouple the multiconnector and place it on to its holder as indicated with an arrow in the adjacent figure.
Finding any fault means that the hydraulic hose or component must be replaced and the equipment must not be used until it is repaired. Spare parts are available from your nearest AVANT retailer or authorised service point. Leave the repair work to professional service technicians, if you don’t have adequate knowledge and...
33 (38) 7.2 Cleaning the attachment Clean the attachment regularly to prevent accumulation of dirt which is more difficult to remove. A pressure washer and mild detergent can be used for cleaning. Do not use strong solvents, and do not spray directly at the hydraulic components, or at the labels on the attachment.
34 (38) 7.4.1 Chain Check the tightness of the chain (2) every 50 hours of use. The tightness is appropriate when the movement range of the chain is approximately 1-2 cm between the lower gear (3) and the hydraulic motor (4) as shown in the adjacent figure.
35 (38) 8. Warranty terms Avant Tecno Oy grants a warranty of one year (12 months) from the date of purchase for the attachment it manufactures. The warranty covers repair costs as follows: Work costs are covered, if the repair is not performed at the factory.
