WARNING: If protection against high speed particles at extremes of temperature is required
then the user should select eye protection marked with the letter 'T' immediately after the impact
rating letter. If the letter 'T' is not present, then the eye protector should only be used for high
speed particles at room temperature.
Selecting Eye Protection for Welding
Great care should be taken when selecting personal protective equipment for welding. The
information supplied in this sheet is basic information only and more information and training
may be required for this product's effective use.
Consider the factors including the following when selecting PPE for welding:
• The position of the operator in relation to the flame or the arc
• Ambient work area lighting
• Operator limitations and preferences
Suitable gas welding tasks for filters marked with scale number 5
Task
Gas and braze welding
Oxygen cutting
Note: These goggles are not suitable for arc welding except for low current micro-plasma
applications.
Safety Instructions
For your own protection please read and thoroughly understand all safety instructions before
use.
Keep these instructions with the product for future reference. Ensure all people who use this
product are fully acquainted with these safety instructions.
• This product is designed for eye protection but is not unbreakable.
• Never alter or modify this product.
• A damaged lens reduces vision and protection and should be replaced immediately.
• It is the responsibility of the user to acquaint themselves with the hazards to be encountered
and select the correct level of eye protection for use in the hazardous area.
• The materials that come into contact with skin may cause allergic reactions to susceptible. If a
reaction occurs, leave the area, remove the goggles and seek medical advice.
• This product will only provide eye protection. If necessary, select other safety wear
appropriate for the task.
WARNING: Wearing spectacles under safety glasses increases the risk of impacts being
transmitted by the goggles
WARNING: These goggles are designed for protecting the eye with the following uses; gas,
plasma, oxyacetylene or oxy-fuel welding, cutting, brazing, soldering and grinding. They are fitted
with a shade 5 filter which will not provide eye protection for more intense uses including most arc
welding. Check suitability before use.
• Ensure the Welding Filter is in place over the clear lens before you carry out any welding or
similar procedure.
WARNING: Filters made of toughened mineral glass may only be fitted in conjunction with an
additional clear backing lens.

Intended Use
Filtered welding goggles with polycarbonate lenses, flexible frames and elasticated strap for light
duty welding.
Note: This eye protection is designed for your personal safety and must be worn for the duration
of exposure to hazards.
Note: For adult use only.
Maintenance
General inspection
• Check that lenses and frame are in good condition before use.
• Carefully inspect welding filters before each use. Cracked, pitted or scratched filter glass or
protection plates can seriously impair protection and reduce vision. Check for cracks in the
shield and look for light leaks. All damaged components must be replaced before the goggles
may be used.
• Maintenance and repairs not covered by this manual must be carried out by an authorised
Silverline service centre.
Cleaning
• Do not clean with abrasive materials. Clean with warm soapy water and dry with soft cloth.
Storage
• Store carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children.
Disposal
At the end of its service life, this product must be disposed of according to local laws and
regulations.
• DO NOT dispose of welding equipment with household waste. Contact your local waste disposal
authority for information on the correct way of disposal.
• DO NOT dispose of welding lenses with household waste. DO NOT incinerate.
