LUBRICATION
The tractor is equipped with six grease fittings
located as follows: (2) one on each wheel hub (1)
idler pulley, (1) transmission housing, (1) axle
housing beneath frame, (1) countershaft housing
beneath frame. These fittings are properly greased
when unit leaves factory but complete greasing with
regular pressure grease is recommended for approx-
imately every 10 hours of operation.
The transmission housing is lubricated with a liquid
gear grease at the factory which will last a con-
siderable length of time unless a leak should develop.
It is recommended that as a precautionary measure
a small amount of regular grease be added each
time the tractor is lubricated. The plug on side
of cover is not an oil level plug but is provided
for removal of gear train shaft.
OPERATION
IMPORTANT: THE ENGINE CRANK CASE IS WITH-
OUT OIL WHEN SHIPPED FROM FACTORY. B E -
FORE STARTING ENGINE BE SURE TO FILL THE
CRANK CASE WITH LUBRICANT SPECIFIED IN
ENGINE MANUAL. Further instructions pertaining
to the engine, its care and operation are contained
in the engine manual. Read these instructions care-
fully.
The clutch lever located below the left handle assem-
bly operates the idler pulley which in turn engages
and disengages the drive belt. To disengage drive
belt, draw clutch lever upward until the latch catches
and locks lever in position. To disengage drive
belt, apply upward pressure on clutch lever so
latch can be released and then slowly release clutch
lever fully.
Before starting the engine be sure the clutch lever
is disengaged. The attachment control lever on
handle cross bar should be in forward or disengaged
position if a front mounted attachment is being used.
ADJUSTMENT
The handles are at medium height as assembled in
previous instructions. If desired, they may be
raised or lowered by placing capscrews in handle
ends in upper or lower holes in tractor frame.
For satisfactory performance it Is important the belt
tension be carefully adjusted. This adjustment is
made by moving the clutch wire inward or outward
in clamp on clutch lever. When properly adjusted,
the top of the belt should depress approximately
1/2 inch under slight thumb pressure when clutch is
engaged.
