Canon 40D Digital Camera Overview Manual
Exposure Settings – Shutter Speed
The Shutter Speed is a measurement of how long the shutter of a camera remains open as a
picture is taken. Along with the F-Stop and ISO settings, it is one of three settings that determine the
exposure of a portrait.
On the Canon 40D, the Shutter Speed setting is displayed on the top row of the control panel.
In Wal-Mart Portrait Studios, the Shutter Speed must always be set to 100
Wal-Mart Portrait Studio Associates should be in the habit of checking this setting before beginning a
session. If the Shutter Speed is not set to 100, do not begin the session. Contact Technical Support
for assistance.
