    Camera Settings are locked down. A great benefit of the Canon 40D is that camera settings are locked. This means that accidentally pushing a button or a curious customer turning a camera dial will not affect how your camera operates.

    Canon 40D Digital Camera Overview Manual SECTION 2: BASIC CAMERA OPERATION This section will provide basic information regarding general use of the Canon 40D Digital Camera. Turning the Camera ON and OFF The camera power switch is located on the back of the camera.

Always rotate a camera to the horizontal position before turning it off. Each time the camera is turned off, a Sensor Cleaning screen will display momentarily.

The VersaFlip is a handle used to rotate the between horizontal and vertical positions IMPORTANT! Always used the VersaFlip to rotate the camera.

The Focus Button is located on the side of the trip cord handle. After framing the subject in the Live View Monitor, press and hold this button down to initiate focus.

    Canon 40D Digital Camera Overview Manual The CF Media Card and Card Reader A CF Media Card is used to transfer images from the camera to the computer. This is a storage card that acts much like a computer floppy disk.
  • Page 14 Wal-Mart Portrait Studios. The 40D Digital Camera and the CF Media Card mate through a series of small pins located inside the camera. If the card is loaded incorrectly, these pins will be damaged. If this happens, the camera will not function and will require replacement.

    Restricted Mode The Canon 40D Digital Camera uses a version of firmware that prevents all users from changing settings, accessing internal menus, and ultimately changing how the camera functions.

The Control Panel, located on the top of the camera, displays these important setting. The three Exposure Settings displayed in the control panel are the most common settings that require checking and adjustment in a Wal-Mart Portrait Studio.

Exposure settings set the foundation for how your finished portraits will look. The three exposure settings work together to determine how much light is allowed into the camera when a portrait is taken.

    Along with the F-Stop and ISO settings, it is one of three settings that determine the exposure of a portrait. On the Canon 40D, the Shutter Speed setting is displayed on the top row of the control panel. In Wal-Mart Portrait Studios, the Shutter Speed must always be set to 100 Wal-Mart Portrait Studio Associates should be in the habit of checking this setting before beginning a session.
