8 Maintenance

For the most reliable operation and for maximum life, this APU requires regular maintenance. This includes
oil and filter changes, fuel filter and air cleaner replacement and coolant replacement. Maintenance should
be performed by properly trained personnel according to the schedule listed in section 8.1. Pre-trip
inspections should be performed before every trip. Pre-trip inspection procedure can be found in table 8.2
To perform these maintenance checks the top cover to the APU needs to be removed. Before performing any
work ensure the AI is in the APU OFF status, both battery cables are disconnected, and any external shore
power disconnected. Proper Lockout/Tagout procedures must be followed.
Never observe the inside of the APU enclosure or insert your fingers or a tool into the enclosure when the APU
is running. Danger from moving parts.
Do not open the CCU or CCM enclosures. There are no operator serviceable components.
Only qualified personnel may perform maintenance and inspection.
DO NOT open the coolant tank cap when engine and coolant is HOT.
Covers must be in place while APU engine is running. Covers must be secure, and knob installed while
vehicle is moving.
