EF Lens Instructions
These instructions describe operation of representative EF lenses.
Detailed instructions for your lens can be downloaded from the
Canon website below.

Be sure the latest version firmware is installed in the camera.
6 Warnings
• Do not leave a lens or a camera/camcorder with a lens
attached, under the sun without the lens cap attached.
Sunlight may be concentrated and may cause fire.
• Do not shoot the sun directly or point a lens or a camera/
camcorder with a lens attached at the sun. Even when
the sun does not appear on the screen or is behind the
subject, the lens may concentrate the sunlight and cause a
malfunction or fire .
• Do not look directly at the sun or other strong light sources
through a lens or a single-lens reflex camera with a lens
attached.This may harm your vision.
In particular, do not look directly at the sun through a lens.
This may result in vision loss.
• When carrying or handling a camera/camcorder with a lens
mounted, and a tripod mount attached to the lens, make sure
to properly support the lens. If you hold only the camera/
camcorder, the lens or the camera/camcorder may be
damaged, or the lens may fall off the mount and cause injury.
• When attaching a tripod mount to the lens, tighten the tripod
mount ring firmly so the tripod mount is securely locked.
If the tripod mount is not secured properly, the lens may fall
off.
6Cautions
• Do not leave the product in places exposed to extremely high
or low temperatures. The product may become extremely
hot/cold and cause burns or injury when touched.
• Only mount the product on a tripod that is sufficiently sturdy.
• Do not touch any parts inside the product. This may cause
injury.
• Do not hold the Macro Lites located on the front of the lens
close to the eyes or stare at them when they are illuminated.
Doing so may result in eye damage.
Attaching and Detaching a Lens

Remove the caps
0 .
• Remove the dust cap and the body cap by turning them
as shown by the arrows.

Attach the lens f) .
• Align the lens's mount index (A: white index, B: red index)
with the camera's index matching the same color. Turn
the lens as shown by the arrow until it clicks in place.

Set the lens's focus mode switch to
AF 0 .
• AF stands for autofocus.
• MF stands for manual focus .

Remove the front lens cap.
Zooming
• Turn the zoom ring on the lens with your fingers
0 .
• If you want to zoom , do it before focusing. Turning the
zoom ring after achieving focus may throw off the focus.
Detaching the Lens
While pressing the lens release button, turn the lens
as shown by the arrow 0 .
• Turn the lens until it stops, then detach it.
• Attach the dust cap to the detached lens.
Lens Image Stabilizer
When you use the IS lens's built-in Image Stabilizer, camera shake
is corrected to obtain a sharper shot.
• IS stands for Image Stabilizer.

Set the image stabilizer switch to ON 0.
• Also set the camera's power switch to ON.

Press the shutter button halfway.
· The Image Stabilizer will operate.

Take the picture.
• When the picture looks steady in the viewfinder, press the
shutter button completely to take the picture.
Attaching a Lens Hood
A lens hood can block unwanted light and prevent rain , snow, dust,
etc. from getting on the front of the lens. When storing the lens in a
bag, etc., you can also attach the hood in reverse.
If there are mounting indexes on the lens
and hood:

Align the red dots on the hood and lens edges,
then turn the hood as shown by the arrow
0 .

Turn the hood as far as shown in the illustration
0 .
• Turn the hood clockwise until it attaches securely.
If there are no mounting indexes on the
lens or hood:
Attach the lens hood
0 .
• Turn the hood as shown by the arrow to attach it securely.

Assurez-vous que Ia version Ia plus nicente du micrologiciel
est installee sur l'appareil photo.
6 Avertissement
• Ne laissez pas un objectif ou un appareil photo/camescope
pourvu d'un objectif sous le soleil sans le cache de l'objectif
fixe. Une concentration de Ia lumiere du soleil pourrait se
produire, ce qui risque de provoquer un incendie.
• Ne visez pas directement le solei! et ne dirigez pas un objectif ou
un appareil photo/camescope pourvu d'un objectif directement
vers le soleil. Meme si le solei! n'apparait pas sur l'ecran ou est
derriere le sujet, l'objectif pourrait concentrer Ia lumiere du solei!
et provoquer un dysfonctionnement ou un incendie.
• Ne regardez pas directement le solei! ou une autre source
de lumiere intense a travers un objectif ou un appareil photo
reflex a objectif unique sur lequel un objectif est fixe. Cela
risque d'endommager votre vision. Evitez en particulier de
regarder directement le solei! a travers un objectif. Cela
pourrait entrainer une perte de vision.
• Lorsque vous transportez ou manipulez un appareil photo/
camescope sur lequel un objectif est fixe, assurez-vous de soutenir
correctement l'objectif. Si vous tenez uniquement l'appareil photo/
le camescope, l'objectif ou l'appareil photo/le camescope risque
d'etre endommage. L'objectif pourrait egalement tomber du
dispositif de fixation et provoquer des blessures.
• Lorsque vous fixez un dispositif de montage pour trepied sur
l'objectif, serrez fermement Ia bague du dispositif de montage de
fa~on a le verrouiller correctement. Si le dispositif de montage
pour trepied n'est pas bien serre, l'objectif risque de tomber.

• Ne laissez pas le produit dans des endroits exposes a des
temperatures extremement elevees ou basses. Le produit
pourrait devenir Ires chaud/froid et provoquer des brOiures
ou des blessures en cas de contact.
• Montez uniquement le produit sur un trepied suffisamment robuste.
• Ne touchez aucune des parties a l'interieur du produit. Cela
pourrait provoquer des blessures.
• Ne positionnez pas les lampes macros situees a I' avant de
l'objectif a proximite de

ne regardez pas dans leur
direction lorsque ces dernieres son! allumees. Le non-respect
de cette consigne pourrait provoquer des lesions oculaires .
Montage et retrait de l'objectif

Retirez les bouchons
0 .
• Retirez le cache-poussiere et le bouchon du boitier en les
tournant comme indique par les fleches.

Montez l'objectif f).
• Alignez !'index de montage (A: index blanc, B: index
rouge) sur celui de meme couleur de l'appareil photo.
Tournez l'objectif dans le sens de Ia fleche jusqu'au declic.

Positionnez le selecteur de mode de mise au point
de l'objectif sur AF E).
• AF signifie autofocus.
• MF signifie mise au point manuelle.

Enlevez le bouchon avant de l'objectif.
Zoom
• Tournez manuellement Ia bague de zoom sur l'objectif
0.
• Si vous souhaitez effectuer un zoom, faites-le avant Ia
mise au point. Vous risquez de modifier Ia mise au point
en tournant Ia bague de zoom apres avoir effectue Ia mise
au point.
Retrait de l'objectif
Tout en appuyant sur le bouton de deverrouillage
de l'objectif, tournez l'objectif comme indique par Ia
fleche0.
• Tournez l'objectif jusqu'a ce qu'il se bloque , puis retirez-le.
• Une lois l'objectif retire, fixez-y le cache-poussiere.
Stabilisateur d'image de l'objectif
L'utilisation du stabilisateur d'image integra a un objectif IS permet
de corriger le flou de bouge afin d'obtenir une photo plus nette.
• IS signifie " Image Stabilizer " (stabilisateur d'image) .

Placez le commutateur du stabilisateur d'image
sur ON 0.
• Positionnez egalement le commutateur d'alimentation de
l'appareil photo sur ON.

Enfoncez le declencheur
a
mi-course.
~ Le stabilisateur d'image entre en fonctionnement.

Prenez Ia photo.
• Lorsque !'image semble stable dans le viseur, enfoncez le
declencheur a fond pour prendre Ia photo.
Fixation d'un pare-soleil
Un pare-solei! peut bloquer Ia lumiere indesirable et empecher Ia
pluie, Ia neige, Ia poussiere ou autre de se coller sur I' avant de
l'objectif. Vous pouvez egalement fixer le pare-solei! a l'envers
lorsque vous rangez l'objectif dans un sac ou autre.
S'il y a des index de montage sur
l'objectif et le pare-soleil :

Alignez les points rouges sur les bords du pare-
solei! et de l'objectif, puis tournez le paresoleil dans
le sens de Ia fleche

Tournez le pare-solei! de Ia maniere illustree
0.
• Tournez le pare-solei! dans le sens horaire jusqu'a ce qu'il
se fixe bien en place.
S'il n'y a pas d'index de montage sur
l'objectif et le pare-soleil :
Fixez le pare-solei I

en place.
• Tournez le pare-solei! dans le sens de Ia flilche pour bien
le fixer en place.

En estas instrucciones se describe el funcionamiento de los objetivos
EF mas representatives. Las instrucciones detalladas de su objetivo

Asegurese de que Ia ultima version del firmware esta
instalada en Ia camara.
6 Advertencia
• No deje al sol ningt.in objetivo ni ninguna camara o
videocamara que tenga montado un objetivo sin Ia tapa del
objetivo puesta. La luz del sol puede concentrarse y provocar
un incendio.
• No fotografie el sol directamente ni apunte hacia el sol con
un objetivo o una camara o videocamara que tenga montado
un objetivo. Aunque el sol no aparezca en Ia pantalla o se
encuentre detras del motive, el objetivo puede concentrar Ia
luz del sol y provocar una averia o un incendio.
• No mire directamente al solo o a otras fuentes de luz fuerte
a traves de un objetivo o de una camara reflex de un solo
objetivo con un objetivo montado. Esto puede dafiar su
vision .
En particular, no mire directamente al sol a traves de un
objetivo. Esto puede producir perdida de vision.
• Cuando transporte o maneje una camara o videocamara que
tenga montado un objetivo, sujete correctamente el objetivo.
Si sujeta solamente Ia camara o videocamara, el objetivo
de Ia camara o videocamara puede dafiarse o caerse de Ia
montura y provocar lesiones.
• Cuando coloque una montura de tripode en el objetivo ,
apriete firmemente el anillo de Ia montura de tripode
para que quede firmemente bloqueada. Si no se sujeta
correctamente Ia montura de tripode , el objetivo puede
caerse.
6Atenci6n
• No deje el producto en lugares expuestos a temperaturas
extremadamente altas o bajas. El producto puede alcanzar
temperaturas extremadamente altas o bajas y provocar
quemaduras o lesiones si se toea.
• Monte el producto solamente en un tripode suficientemente
resistente .
• No toque ninguna parte interna del producto. Esto puede
provocar lesiones.
• No mantenga las Macro Lites situadas en Ia parte frontal del
objetivo cerca de los ojos ni las mire fijamente cuando estan
iluminadas. De lo contrario, podria provocar dafios en los ojos.
Montaje y desmontaje de un objetivo

Quite las tapas

• Quite Ia tapa de proteccion contra el polvo y Ia tapa del
cuerpo girandolas de Ia forrna que indican las flechas.

Monte el objetivo f) .
• Alinee el indice de montaje (A: fndice blanco, B: fndice
rojo) del objetivo con el fndice de Ia carnara del rnismo
color. Gire el objetivo corno rnuestra Ia flecha hasta que
encaje en su Iugar.

Situe el conmutador de modos de enfoque del
objetivo en AF E) .
• AF significa "autofocus" (enfoque automatico).
• MF significa "manual focus" (enfoque manual).

Quite Ia tapa de Ia parte frontal del objetivo.
Zoom
• Gire el anillo del zoom del objetivo con los dedos
0 .
• Si desea utilizar el zoom, hagalo antes de enfocar. Si gira
el anillo del zoom despues de haber enfocado, es posible
que pierda el enfoque.
Desmontaje del objetivo
Mantenga presionado el bot6n de desbloqueo del
objetivo y gire el objetivo como indica Ia flecha 0.
• Gire el objetivo hasta que se detenga y desm6ntelo.
• Coloque Ia tapa de proteccion contra el polvo en el
objetivo desmontado.
Estabilizador de imagen del objetivo
Cuando utilice el estabilizador de imagen integrado en un objetivo IS, Ia
sacudida de Ia camara se corregira para obtener imagenes mas nitidas.
• IS significa "Image Stabilizer" (estabilizador de imagen) .

Situe el conmutador del estabilizador de imagen
enON0.
• Situe tambien el interrupter de alimentaci6n de Ia camara
en ON.

Presione el disparador hasta Ia mitad.
' El estabilizador de imagen entrara en funcionamiento.

Tome Ia fotografia.
• Cuando Ia imagen parezca estable en el visor, presione el
disparador hasta el Iondo para tomar Ia fotograffa.
Montaje de un parasol
El parasol de objetivo permite bloquear Ia luz no deseada y
protegera Ia parte frontal del objetivo contra Ia lluvia, nieve, polvo ,
etc. Antes de guardar el objetivo en una bolsa, etc., el parasol
tambien se puede montar en posicion invertida.
Si hay Indices de montaje en el objetivo
yen el parasol:

Alinee los puntos rojos del parasol y los bordes
del objetivo y, a continuaci6n, gire el parasol como
indica Ia flecha

Gire el parasol tanto como sea posible, como se
muestra en Ia ilustraci6n
0 .
• Gire el parasol en sentido horario hasta que quede
firmemente rnontado.
Si no hay ningun fndice de montaje en el
objetivo o en el parasol:
Monte el parasol

• Gire el parasol como rnuestra Ia flecha para montarlo
firmemente.
