Using the Recording Timer
The clock has a 12-hour display.
Example: Recording from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.
Setting the start and finish times
El Press [POWER /1] to turn the unit on.
Press [ADJUST, CLOCK/TIMER] four times to
set "ON" and "© REC" flashing.
They flash for about 10 seconds.
(The display changes each time the button is pressed.}
(D) (Within 10 seconds)
Press [+] or [—] to set the start time.
© Press [ADJUST, CLOCK/TIMER].
Finish time flashes.
(D) Press [+] or [—] to set the finish time.
©) Press [ADJUST, CLOCK/TIMER].
Display returns to original mode.
When "E" is displayed:
Check whether start and finish are set for the same time.
The set time remains active until changed.
Programming recording
[Eq © Select the required source.
Radio: Press [TUNER BAND] and select a station.
External unit: Press [AUX]. Set the external source's timer
for the same time.
@ Insert a cassette into deck 2, select the re-
verse mode (> page 19).
Reduce the volume when listening during recording is not
desired.
elf there is excessive interference when recording an AM
station, press [BP/FM MODE} to switch to reduced static.
Setting the timer function
[A Press [TIMER »PLAY +eREC] to display
"®© REC".
Each time the button is pressed in quick succession:
© PLAY->© REC—off (no display)

Press the button to switch from "@PLAY" to "OREC" before
"©PLAY" disappears from the screen (displayed for about 2
seconds).
if the play timer has not been set
Each time it is pressed: © REC<— off (no display)
When "E" is displayed:
Check whether the clock has been set (= page 9).
Press [POWER (5/I} to turn the unit off.
Programming can be checked when the unit is off ( page 25).
The unit turns on approximately 30 seconds before the set start
time and recording begins.
To clear the timer function:
Press [TIMER ePLAY eeREC] when the unit is on to clear the
"© REC" indicator.
