CAUTION Caution is given when there is a possibility of damage to the product. Using input command voltages outside of this range may cause hardware damage. Description Chapter 3 This manual covers the installation and use of Thorlabs’ QS30 & QS45 Series 1- & 2-Axis Galvo Scanners. Each of these galvos uses a ceramic rotor to reduce rotor inertia and increase rotor stiffness. Increased rotor stiffness increases the galvanometer’s first resonant frequency, which in turn improves step response. -

QS30 & QS45 Series Galvo Scanners Chapter 6: Connectors Connectors Chapter 6 There are two connectors on the QS30 and QS45 series galvo scanners. The four-pin connector carries the two differential position detector signals (ib and ia), the AGC voltage (Oscillator Power), and ground. These signals connect to the position detector connector on the servo drive board (see servo drive manual for more details). -

Chassis isolation is usually done with a thin layer of Kapton or Mylar tape wrapped carefully around the mounting area of the galvanometer. The galvanometers should be mounted in a C-type compression clamp built into a rigid structure. -

The effect is noticed by drift on the zero and gain of the position detector. The galvanometers are inherently superior in performance due to carefully selected electrical components and the thermal insulation between motor stator and position detector. -
