Load a standard shape cassette on the deck.
Make certain that both surfaces of the Oil Retaining
Washer are properly spaced from one side of the
Cassette Shell and the top end of the Capstan
ousing
by rotating the Flywheel manually. See Fig. 5-14.
Oil Retaining Washer Clearance Check
Insert any cassette tape with the record protection tab
removed in the Cassette
older and close Cassette
older.
Then, ensure that the Record Preventing Lever moves
downward, thus closing the Record Safety Switch
(S512).
If the Switch does not close, loosen the screw fixing
tire Micro Switch Bracket and adjust the Switch posi ­
tion by moving the Bracket for proper activation of the
Switch.
Be sure that when inserting any cassette tape in the
Cassette
older and closing it, the Cassette In Switch
(S509) is actuated to run the Capstan Motor.
If the Capstan Motor does not rotate, loosen the screw
on the right end of the Micro Switch Bracket, and then
rotate the Bracket so that the Switch is engaged to ON.
After adjusting, retighten the loosened screw.

Load the TEAC MTT-501 test tape or equivalent.
Ensure that when depressing tire Eject Lever, the
Cassette
older Door is opened smoothly without
binding from the closed condition.
Close the Cassette
older with no Cassette in the
older.
Check that the Cassette
older will open fully when
the Eject lever is depressed as above.
Load a cassette tape in the opened Cassette
older
Door and check that the cassette shell does not come
into contact with the capstan shaft or safety shaft
fixed on the chassis.
