Setting recording levels
Adjust the recording levels with the REC LEVEL control.
@ To increase: Turn the control toward MAX.
@ To decrease: Turn the control toward MIN.
How to set recording levels correctly
@ Record the source at the highest levels possible to
acheive a low ratio of tape hiss noise.
@ However, if the recording levels exceed the Capacity
of the tape, the recorded sound will be distorted.
This means that there is a certain limit for recording
levels.
Therefore, optimum recording levels should be set in
accordance with the type of tape used or the noise
reduction system selected.
As a general guideline, setting record levels so that the
peak level meters' +3 dB indicator lights up
occasionally should result in recordings with high
signal-to-noise ratio and little distortion.
@ If the REC LEVEL control is turned gradually toward
"MAX" or "MIN" during recording, fade-in or fade-
out effects can be obtained.
MPX FILTER SWITCH
FM broadcasts contain a high-frequency pilot signal
which, while out of the audible range of the music, can
cause interference with the Dolby NR circuit.
Therefore if using Dolby B or C noise reduction when
recording from an FM stereo tuner, this switch should
be turned on.
All other music sources should be recorded with th2
MPxX filter in the THRU position.

werden, daB die +3 dB-Anzeige des Programmspitzen-
Messer ab und zu aufleuchten. Dadurch wird ein hoher
Gerauschspannungsabstand bei geringen Verzer-
rungen erreicht.
@ Durch allmahliches Verstellen des REC LEVEL-
Reglers in Richtung MAX kann des Aufnahmesignal
allmahlich ein- und durch allmahliches Verstellen in
Richtung MIN allmahlich ausgeblendet werden.
MPX-FILTERSCHALTER
UKW-Sendungen enthalten einen hochfrequente Pilot-
ton, der sich zwar auGBerhalb des horbaren Bereichs der
Musik befindet, aber den Betrieb der Dolby NR-
Schaltung beeintrachtigen kann.
Daher solite dieser Schalter eingeschaltet werden,
wenn mit dem Dolby "B"- oder "C"-System Aufnahmen
von einem UKW-Stereotuner gemacht werden.
Aufzeichnungen aller anderen Musikquellen sollten mit
dem MPxX-Filterschalter auf THRU (Aus) vorgenommen
werden.
