TIMER
UNATTENDED
RECORDING
You can record a source at any desired frequency charac-
teristics using the graphic equalizer.
Set to TIMER switch to OFF.
Turn down the volume.
Set the audio timer so that the power
comes on at the desired time. (Power
to the components
should be off at
this point.)
Set the TIMER switch to REC.

PLAYBACK
Set to TIMER switch to OFF.
Set the cassette tape deck amplifier's
POWER
switch to on.
Load the tape for playing into deck |.
Press the FUNCTION
switch and set it
to TAPE.
Select the DOLBY NR switch.
Select the REVERSE
MODE
switch.
Adjust the volume and the graphic equali-
zer so the sound volume and quality will
be proper when timer playback starts.
Set the time on the audio timer so
that the power comes
on at the de-
sired time (this action switches off
the power to the audio components).
Q Set the TIMER switch to SOURCE.
10 Power will be turned on automatically
at the preset time and playing in the
forward direction will start.
Operations will vary according to the audio timer used.
For
details, see the operating
instructions supplied with the
timer.
Note:
When playing back radio broadcasts or CD players with a timer
function set the Timer swich to source, and with the timer on,
adjust the volume accordingly to the fuction of the source.

What is surround sound?
With
ordinary
stereo,
sound
normally
comes
only from
speakers in front of the listener. In a concert hall or theater
though, sound reflected from the walls and ceiling reaches
the listener from ail directions. This is what accounts for the
feeling of ambience or spaciousness of a live performance.
Surround
sound
works to reproduce these effects to pro-
duce fuller, more "live" sound.
NOTE:
if the S-X1A, etc. surround speaker systems {sold separately) are
used they will reproduce normal stereo sound when the SUR-
ROUND switch is not pressed.
