The AF illmninator supplies fill light to focus more easily on a subject ill dark surroundings.
The AF illmninalor emits red lighl allowing the camera to focus easily when the slmlter bulton
is pressed haffway, until the focus is locked. The DToN indicalor appears al this time.

• II tile AF illuminalor light does nol reach tile subject sufficienlly {)1the subject has no contrast, l_)cus will
not be achieved. (A distance of up to approximately 3.5 m (11 feet 5 7/8 inches) (W)/2,5 m (8 _et 2 1/2
inches) (T) is recomlnended.)
• Focus is achieved as long as lhe AF illuminator lighl reaches the subject, even if the lighl is slighlly <}Ifthe
center oI the subject.
• When Focus preset is set (page 31). [AF Ilhlmilmlor] does not Iunction. _:
• Tile AF range finder trallle does not appear. Tile Ill or Bra indicator flashes, and AF ol?erates with priority
on subjects located near the center oI tile hame.
• Tile AF illuminalor does not operate when _ (Twilight mode) or [] (Landscape mode) is selecled in lhe ¢_

• Tile AF illuminator emits very bright light. Although there are no problems with sal_ly, do not look "_
directly into the AF ilhln/inator emitter at clo_ range,
