    Summary of safety precautions WARNING WARNING: Always place recliner in an upright position or a fully reclined position when cleaning or maintaining your recliner to avoid the risk of injury. This recliner moves easily without an occupant in the recliner and may create pinch points when not fully reclined or upright. WARNING: Always keep hands, feet, and legs clear of the recline mechanism to avoid the risk of injury.

    Summary of pinch points The recliner has moving parts that create pinch points. The recliner moves easily without an occupant in the recliner and may create pinch points when not in upright, TV, or full recline positions. Indications for use Unity Recliner, Clinical and Treatment The Unity series recliner is indicated to support and position patients, excluding infants, for treatment and examination in a healthcare facility.

    Receiving new recliners CAUTION: Always make sure that new recliner inspection is completed by someone who understands the operations manual. Improper operation of the recliner may cause product damage and void your warranty. New recliner setup and inspection Complete the following steps when you receive new recliners: Remove all packing material including foam wrap and bag.

    If possible, save an undamaged carton and pallet in the event a recliner must be returned to the factory. 3. Contact Stryker Customer Service or Technical Support at: 1-800-327-0770 immediately to report the damage. All claims must be filed by the consignee and reported within 45 days of receipt of shipment.

    Operating instructions For safe recliner operation WARNING: Do not exceed the safe working load of the recliner. Safe working load is determined by occupant weight plus attachments to recliner. Exceeding safe working load may cause product damage and injury. WARNING: Always fully lock the casters before entry and exit of the recliner to avoid the risk of injury.

    CAUTION: Do not force the recliner into position; permanent damage may result. The recliner works with normal effort when operated properly. CAUTION: Return the recliner to the TV position before closing the footrest. Closing the footrest while in the full recline position may damage the mechanism and will void your warranty. CAUTION: Always make sure the backrest is fully upright before you close the footrest.
  • Page 16 To actuate the Trendelenburg option: 1. Place the recliner into full recline position (See recliner positions). 3. Grasp the push handle (G) (Figure then squeeze and hold the Trendelenburg release bar (Figure 4. Lower the recliner and occupant to the desired degree of Trendelenburg position.

    Recliner options and accessories Foot tray option The foot tray pulls out from under the recliner footrest. Occupants should always be advised that the foot tray has been extended. Foot tray should be stowed when not in use. To fully extend the foot tray: 1.

    Transfer arm option WARNING: Always lock the transfer arm when transferring an occupant or disinfecting the recliner to avoid the risk of injury. Occupant may be able to operate the transfer arm if not locked, which may cause bodily harm. The transfer arm allows the operator to perform a pivot or lateral transfer.

    The head protector flap is a preventative maintenance accessory that can preserve the life of your recliner. This flap features a snap close design that goes over the head portion of the backrest. This can save your backrest from hair products and oils, as the head flap is designed to be placed where the occupant would rest their head.

General cleaning and disinfecting WARNING: Direct skin contact with visibly soiled permeable material may increase risk of infection.

    Recliners should be: 1. Cleaned 2. Disinfected (per facility policy) 3. Rinsed 4. Dried with a soft cloth NOTE: Disinfecting a recliner is not the same as cleaning a recliner. Disinfectants alone will not provide adequate cleaning as they do not have grease/oil cutting properties to remove grime, and hair or skin oils.
