You can set the time manually yourself, e.g. for a holiday trip, or select the time zone from EU, Japan, UK or America via an additional settings button; the corresponding time sets itself automatically then. Summer/winter time is set automatically.

Functional description

The radio signal (DCF) for the exact time display in Germany is encoded and transmitted by a transmitter in Mainflingen near Frankfurt. The transmitter has a range of ca. 1,500 km, under ideal conditions even up to 2,000 km. Watches with integrated radio receivers can receive and decode the radio signal within this transmission range. For these watches, manually setting the time is thus not necessary (e.g. when changing from winter to summer time). The automatic change between summer and winter time takes 24 hours, at most.

Among other things, the DCF signal includes the precise time (theoretical deviation of 1 second in a million years!) and the date.

This watch can likewise receive time signals in other countries. Along with Germany's DCF77 signal, the watch can receive Great Britain's MSF signal, Switzerland's HGB signal, WWVB signals in the USA and Japan's JJY signal.

Start-up operation

Start-up operation

  1. The basic setting of the LC display is the display of hours and minutes.
  2. Pressing the button A once switches to the display of month and date.
  3. Pressing it twice switches to the display of seconds and weekday.
  4. Pressing it a third time displays the time zone.
  5. Pressing it a fourth time puts the display back into the basic setting.

Automatic reception of a time signal

Every day, the watch attempts to receive the currently set time signal up to three times if previous attempts fail. Compare the table below. (*UTC Coordinated Universal Time is the reference time.) UTC corresponds to GMT.

CET corresponds to UTC + 1 h

Reception time (automatic) Time zone
3:00, 4:00 and 5:00 *UTC +0h to +3h
2:00, 3:00 and 4:00 *UTC +8h, +9h and 9h to -5h

Manual reception

  1. Press button A for at least 2 seconds to start a reception attempt. The - symbol starts flashing. The signal strength display shows the quality of the signal received.
  2. If a reception attempt fails, the time previously set on the watch is resumed. No further display symbol is displayed.
  3. Pressing button A for at least 2 seconds stops the reception attempt.

During a reception attempt, the hands of the watch continue to move.

Manual time setting

  3. Confirm the input by pressing on button B. The summer time setting flashes.
