- Page 3 VALVE CONSTRUCTION TROUBLESHOOTING The standard Figure 251 and 252 Swing Check • Shaft packing leakage Valves have a cast iron body, bronze or stainless Tighten packing gland nuts equally just steel (indicated by Figure Number suffixed with “S”) enough to stop leakage, no more than ½ turn body seat, stainless steel hinge shaft and cast iron at a time.
