Transformer Kit

Background

The GLXS3PLXFMR is a replacement transformer kit for HLXPROUPG OmniPL Retrofit Kit, OmniPL, and AQRS3 line of chlorinators.
The GLXS3PLXFMR replaces the original transformer in these products. The GLXS3PLXFMR can also be used to upgrade ECOMMAND
when used with the HLPROUPG/HLXPROUPG Upgrade Kits. Follow the installation procedure below and refer to the diagrams on the
back page. Please verify that the replacement transformer matches the original transformer.

WARNING: Disconnect all AC power at the main breaker before attempting to replace the trans-
former. Use a voltmeter to verify that the main supply input has been entirely removed from the
control. Use appropriate energy lock-out procedures to be certain nobody restores power during
the following procedure.

Procedure

Follow the steps below.
1. HLXPROUPG OmniPL Retrofit Kit and OmniPL models - Remove front cover panel from the enclosure using a 5/16 nut driver
or flat head screwdriver. The main circuit board and transformer are now exposed.
AQRS3 models - Because a fastener is hidden under the display, pull the display away from the cover panel by grasping it with
your hand (no tools required). Then, remove the 3 screws and pull the plastic panel away from the enclosure. The main circuit
board and transformer are now exposed. It is not necessary to disconnect the display wiring connector but removing the display
may offer more room to work within the enclosure.
ECOMMAND models - Remove front cover panel from the enclosure using a 5/16 nut driver or flat head screwdriver. The main
circuit board is now exposed. There is no existing transformer for ECOMMAND models, so disregard steps 2 and 3.
2. Remove the existing transformer connectors from the main circuit board. Refer to the diagram on the back page for the location
of these connectors. The larger 4 position connector has blue, violet, gray, and white wires. The smaller two position connector
has two yellow wires. To remove, squeeze the outside "wings" on the connector and pull. Always pull from connector, not the wire
itself.
3. For AQRS3 models, remove the long grounding bolt. For both models, hold the transformer while removing the four mounting
screws using a nut driver or screwdriver depending on model. Caution: Transformer is heavy!
4. Install the new transformer at the same location using the four screws supplied. Do not over tighten. Install the grounding bolt on
AQRS3 models.
5. Connect the new transformer to the main circuit board in the same manner as the old. Be sure each connector is fully seated. A
firm tug should prove all connectors are tight. Before applying power, make sure all wires are correctly attached and the cover
panel has been reinstalled.
