Mounting the Motherboard in the Chassis All motherboards have standard mounting holes to fi t different types of chassis. Make sure that the locations of all the mounting holes for both the motherboard and the chassis match.

Alarm Reset (JAR1) The system will notify you in the event of a power supply failure. This feature is only available for chassis with Supermicro redun- dant power supply units installed. If you only have a single power supply installed, you should not connect anything to this header (JAR1) to prevent false alarms.
X6QT8/X6QTE+ User's Manual Jumper Settings Explanation of Jumpers To modify the operation of the motherboard, jumpers can be used to choose between optional settings. Jumpers create shorts between two pins to change the function of the connector. Pin 1 is identifi ed with a square solder pad on the printed circuit board.
CMOS Clear JBT1 is used to clear CMOS. Instead of pins, this "jumper" consists of contact pads to prevent the accidental clearing of CMOS. To clear CMOS, use a metal object such as a small screwdriver to touch both pads at the same time to short the connection.

Introduction This chapter describes the AMIBIOS Setup Utility for the X6QT8/X6QTE+. The AMI ROM BIOS is stored in a Flash EEPROM and can be easily updated using a fl oppy disk-based program. This chapter describes the basic navigation of the AMIBIOS Setup Utility setup screens.
