Formatting the Hard Disk Drive
If you are setting up the Hard Disk Drive for the first time, you need to format it by using
the D-Link Storage Configuration Utility. See the second item in the Appendix at the
back of this Quick Installation Guide for more detailed information about this program.
Follow these steps:
1. If you have not done so already, install the D-Link Storage Configuration Utility
on your computer by inserting the DNS-300 CD-ROM in your CD drive and
selecting the first item on the list.
2. Click the D-Link Storage Configuration Utility icon that was installed on your
desktop.
3. Select "DNS-300" under the Device Name column in the System
Configuration window (click Refresh if it doesn't appear automatically).
4. Click Manage. This will cause your default Web browser to open the following
window:
Create System HD
Click
Apply
Click
OK
The following window will be displayed:
