Upgrading/Modifying and Repair

Battery Protection
NOTICE!
Loss of data!
Unintentional or random changes to UEFI settings may affect the
stable and safe operation of the system.
− Changes must only be carried out by specialists or very
experienced users.
If you cannot use your notebook for a longer period of time (e.g. you go on holiday)
activate the battery protection manually in your device's UEFI. This protects your
battery from fully discharging.
− In the UEFI you will fi nd the Ship Mode option under the Save and Exit menu
option.
− Select the Ship Mode option with the arrow keys and confi rm the selection with
Enter.
− Now confi rm the following warning with Enter and unplug the notebook from
the mains.
The notebook closes down and is now in transport mode. Read more about this in the
„Transport Mode" chapter .

Upgrading/Modifying and Repair

Upgrades and modifi cations to your notebook should only be carried out by qualifi ed
specialists. If you do not have the necessary qualifi cations, have the work carried out
by a qualifi ed service technician. Please contact your customer service department if
you have technical problems with your notebook.
If a repair must be carried out, please contact only our authorised service partners.

Notes for Service Technicians

− Only service technicians may open up the notebook housing or upgrade or
modify your notebook.
− Use only original replacement parts.
− Before opening the housing, disconnect all power and connecting cables and
remove the battery. If the notebook is not disconnected from the power supply
before being opened, there is a risk that components could be damaged.
