    The F1-CI1100 package includes the probe, a 3.5” fold-up LCD monitor, AC adapter/battery charger, case and 4 stan- dard tips. The tips are for SC, FC, and LC PC type connec- tors. Tips for both patchcord connectors (male) and in-adapter connectors (female) are included.
  • Page 3 All microscopes are eye-safe video microscopes. Nevertheless, all standard safety precautions should be followed. Warranty Products are shipped after passing a final inspection by Lightel’s Quality Assurance program. In the event of a product failure please contact Fiber Instrument Sales, Inc. at (800)5000-FIS(347) or email sales@fissales.com The warranty period is for one year (excluding battery pack) after the date of delivery. Should failure occur within that period, repair or replacement will be made, as necessary, free of charge. The Warranty will not be honored if: 1. Failure is caused by usage non-conforming to the instruction manual or negligent operation. 2. Failure is caused by an unauthorized electric or mechanical modification by the customer.
  • Page 4 Setup The F1-CI1100 display is designed to run on battery power or its AC charger/adapter Run using AC power Plug the power cable jack into the monitor as shown and pronged end to the AC outlet. When the unit is turned on, the Power Indicator light will be green. Plug the Probe jack into the DIN socket with the flat side down. The Power Switch is located on the right side of the monitor’s base. It is a 3-position switch. “Work” turns the power on and you are ready to inspect a connector.
  • Page 5 Run using battery power Before the monitor can be used with battery power the battery must be charged. Set the power switch to the “Charge” position. (The monitor cannot be turned on or run while the switch is in the Charge position.) When the charger /adapter is plugged in to an AC outlet, the light on the charger will be red until the battery is fully charged. It will then turn green. The Battery Status Indicator Light on the left side of the monitor will turn red when it is time to recharge the battery. Only use the charger/adapter provided to charge your unit. Other 12V adapters will damage the monitor if they are used to charge the battery.
  • Page 6 Tips Male connectors need universal tips based upon connector ferrule size. Different types of female connectors will usually require a tip designed specifically for that connector type. For both, PC and APC versions will be different, and APC tips will be have a mark to match the APC connector’s key. In addition to standard tips a wide Angled Tips variety of specialty tips are offered to accommodate special situations. Contact Fiber Instrument Sales, Inc. for additional information. Ribbon Fiber Tips Extended Tips Changing Probe Tips Probe tips are held in place by a locknut. Holding the probe, turn the lock nut counter-clockwise to loosen it fully, and then remove the tip.

    60° angled tips have two key slots at top and bottom to allow use from two different directions. The front end of the MTP/APC Locknut tip can be set in two positions in a similar fashion. Inspecting Connectors Male Connectors With the correct tip installed for the connector type, place the connector onto the probe tip so that it fits snugly, then use the focus knob on the Probe to focus the image on the LCD screen.
  • Page 8 Female Connectors With the correct tip installed for the connector type, place the tip of the probe into the adapter and use the focus knob on the probe to focus the image. If you are unable to focus, you may not have the probe tip fully inserted. Make sure it seats fully, and refocus.
