Handlebar Cover / Steering Post Removal

1. Remove steering cover (handlebar pad) by loosening
the screws located on underside of pad.
2. Spread bottom of cover apart and lift it up and
rearward.
Note throttle cable and switch wire
routing for reassembly.
3. If handlebar is to be replaced, remove screws on
throttle block.
Remove throttle lever pin, and
disconnect throttle cable.
4. Remove the stop switch and set it aside.
5. Carefully pull wire harnesses, and throttle cable
through steering post.
6. Remove (4) bolts on handlebar clamp and remove
handlebar.
7. Remove shroud. Rear shroud bolts are accessed
underneath glove box pad.
harness and pitot line.
8. Remove (4) bolts on steering housing.
9. Remove steering cable end from post.
10. Slide steering column up and out of the support hub.
Reverse procedure for reassembly. Grease column
bushings with lithium--based grease.
11. Reverse procedure for reassembly.
12. Reference torque specifications below.
All Season Grease 3 oz. PN 2871322
All Season Grease 14 oz. PN 2871423
WARNING
Be certain to check for free and correct operation of the
steering system when reassembly is complete.

Disconnect MFI from

Remove Handlebar Pad Screws
Remove Throttle Block and Start / Stop
Switch Assembly.
Pull Wires and Throttle Cable Through Post.
Lift steering post out of bracket
Lubricate post bushings with
lithium--based grease.
40in.lbs. (5Nm)
