    This remote control uses the same buttons for VCR and DVD functions (ex. PLAY). To use the VCR, first press the VCR button. To use the DVD, first press the CD/DVD button. POWER Switches DVD & Hi-Fi Home Theater System ON and OFF. MUTE Turns the sound on and off temporarily.

    DVD Operation Setup General Explanation This manual gives basic instructions for operating the unit. Some DVDs require specific operations or allow only limited operations during playback. When this occurs, the symbol appears on the TV screen, indi- cating that an operation is not permitted by the unit or is not available on the disc.

    DVD Operation Setup (Continued) Parental Control Rating Movies on DVDs may contain scenes not suitable for children. Therefore, discs may contain Parental Control information that applies to the complete disc or to certain scenes on the disc. These scenes are rated from 1 to 8, with more suitable alternate scenes some- times available for selection on some discs.

    DVD Operation Playing a DVD Playback Setup Turn on the TV and select the video input source con- nected to the unit. Press OPEN/CLOSE (Z Z ) to open the disc tray. Load a disc in the tray, with the label facing up. When a double-sided DVD is inserted, make sure the side you want to play is facing down.
