Duesenberg Les Trem II - Tremolo System For Guitars Quick Start Guide

Introduction

The Duesenberg Les Trem II is a small (but great) tremolo system for guitars with tunamatic bridge and stop tailpiece. Installation doesn't take more than a few minutes. And it can easily be uninstalled, because no additional holes are needed.

The tremolo is mounted in place of the stop tailpiece. Installation is child's play. Inaccurate positioning is absolutely impossible!

The distance between the bolts is exactly 81.5 mm (center to center). This is a standard. The Les Trem II only fits guitars that have this measurement.

Be sure to check this before installation!

2 Allen keys (2.5 und 4 mm)

The four washers are supposed to increase the distance between the tremolo and the guitar's surface to avoid damages. The enclosed mounting bolts fit either M8 or US threads as used on most American guitars.

Mounting instructions

1. Take off the strings and the stop tailpiece. Remove the original bolts.
2. Screw the tremolo bolts (M8- or US-threads) into the screw collars to test if they fit. Then remove them.
   
3. Now place the Les Trem II onto the screw collars and check the gap under the tremolo. The tremolo should not touch the guitar surface. If so (i.e. because the screw collars are not high enough, or because the top is extremely curved), simply put one or both of the washers between the tremolo and the screw collar.
   
4. After that, mount the tremolo using the fitting screws.
5. Tighten the bolts sufficiently! We strongly recommend using the correct screw-driver. Otherwise you might damage the screws' slots.
6. Push the tremolo arm through the arm holder so it's back end projects about 5-10 mm. Tighten the Allen screws softly with the 2.5 mm key.
7. String up the guitar and tune! It's important to tune the strings now, because the strings' tension pulls the tremolo towards the neck which changes the angle of the tremolo arm.
8. Finally loosen the previously tightened Allen screws and adjust the height of the tremolo arm to your requirements. Now tighten the Allen screws firmly! Done - have fun with your Les Trem II!
