Read the operating instructions and the safety instructions carefully before using the device for the first time.

Waterproof Case

  • Insert Camera into Waterproof Case
  1. Ensure the case is clean.
  2. Insert the camera and make sure the lens fits neatly in the lens cavity.
  3. Close the locking clamps.
  4. The camera can be mounted using the accessories provided.

Battery

Before using the device for the first time, you must fully charge the battery.

  • Charging the Battery
  1. Connect the camera to a computer or USB power supply (5V/2A).
  2. The charging status light turns on while the battery is charging.
  3. The charging status light turns off when the battery is fully charged.
  • Changing the Battery
  1. Hold the camera so that you can see the monitor of the camera and lever the battery compartment from the right with your fingernail to open the battery compartment.
  2. Remove the battery.
  3. lnsert the new battery so the contacts line up with those of the camera.

Getting Started

  • Turn On: Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds. When the camera is switched on, the power indicator lights up.
  • Turn Off: Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds.

Modes of the camera

The Rollei 7s Plus offers various photo and video modes. In the following we will give you a brief explanation of how they work:

  • Normal video mode: You can record a single video at normal speed.
  • "Slowly"/ slow-motion video mode: The camera records a sequence and plays it back in slow motion.
  • "Loop" video mode / loop recording: You can record in a loop. Loop recording allows you to set the interval between 2, 3 or 5 minutes. After this interval, a new recording is always made and saved. When the memory card is full, the previously recorded files are overwritten.
  • "Lapse"/ time-lapse video mode: In time-lapse video mode, the camera takes pictures every 0.5 seconds to every minute and creates a video from them. You can select the video length from 6 to 120 seconds or endless.
  • "Photo" / single frame mode: You take a single picture.
  • "Auto"/ time-lapse photo mode: In time-lapse photo mode, the camera takes pictures every 0.5 to 60 seconds.
  • "Burst"/ continuous photo mode: This allows you to take 3, 5 or 10 pictures in a few seconds.
  • "Timer"/ Self-timer photo mode: You can set the timer to delay 3, 5, 10 or 20 seconds.
  • Long Exposure in Photo Mode: A slow shutter speed is used to keep the stationary elements of images in focus. You can set this in the system settings.
  • Date Stamp: You can add a watermark to your images or videos with the date and time.

Selfie mode / change to front display

To switch between the two screens, press the mode button for 2 seconds in recording mode.

Touch function



You can use the touch panel to access the functions of the camera.

  • Wipe left or right to switch between video mode and photo mode.
  • In Video or Photo mode, the icon in the lower left corner allows you to access Playback mode, and the icon in the lower right corner allows you to access the settings.
  • During playback, click the centre icon to play and pause the video. Slide your finger up and down to adjust the volume.
  • In playback mode, wipe down to view the file information.
  • Wipe up to access the mode menu for video and photo.
  • Swipe down to open shortcuts to WLAN, sound, lock and power off for quick access. Use the lower icon to exit the menu.
  • To unlock, wipe the screen from left to right following the arrows or press the release button.
  • To hide or show the display label, briefly touch the centre of the display.

Button function

Overview Menu

Turn the camera on and briefly press the mode button to access the following camera menu and the down button to scroll through the different modes. To select a mode, press the Select button:

  1. . Mode Menu: Video or Photo
  2. . Playback video and photo
  3. . System Settings
  4. . Return to previous screen

To exit the menu, press the mode button or the select button in the fourth tab.

  1. Mode menu
    Here you can select the various video (1.1) or photo (1.2) modes. Use the down button to scroll through the different options. Confirm the desired option by pressing the selection button. To exit, press the the mode button.
    To scroll through the photo and video modes directly, press the down button.


    1. Video mode:
      Press the Shutter button to start recording. The camera icon on the screen turns red during recording. Press the Shutter button again to stop recording.
    2. Photo mode:
      Press the shutter button to capture an image.
  2. Playback Video and Photo
    In the playback mode you can preview the videos and photos taken.
    Make sure that the camera is in the Video or Photo Playback menu. Press the down button to switch videos or photos, and then press the shutter/select button to play and pause the videos. Press the mode button to return.

  3. System Settings:
    In the System Setting mode you can enter the settings for the system and choose different parameters for the camera. Use the mode button to change the tab, the down button to scroll through the function and the select button to select a function.

Parameters for the camera in video mode:

  • Video resolution: Here you can define the resolution of your recordings. (When the slow-motion function is on, playback of your recording depends on the resolution frame rate. The higher this rate is (up to max. 240 fps), the slower you can play back the video).
  • Video length of loop recording: Here you set the length of your loop recording (only available in loop mode).
  • Recording interval of the timelapse recording: Here you set your recording interval in timelapse mode to determine the speed of the timelapse video (only available in lapse mode).
  • Electronic image stabilisation: With image stabilisation switched on, the video recording is smooth (not adjustable in every video mode and resolution).
  • Distortion Correction: This function straightens out the distortion at the edge of the image caused by the wide-angle lens (not adjustable in every video mode).
  • White balance: Adjust different white balances for optimal results.
  • Exposure compensation: You can set this between -3 (image becomes darker) and +3 (image becomes lighter).
  • Video length of timelapse recording: Here you can set the duration of your recording in timelapse mode (only available in lapse mode).
  • Measurement mode: Here you can set the image area on which the camera focuses, e.g. at different points, in the centre, at a point or in a matrix.
  • Contour sharpness: You can set the sharpness between low, medium and high.
  • Video quality: You can set the video quality between low, medium and high.
  • ISO sensitivity: ISO can be adjusted automatically or manually between 100 and 6400 (not adjustable in every video mode).
  • Time watermark: You can add a date and time display to your recordings (not adjustable in every video mode).
  • Voice recording: when it is switched on, sound is recorded; when it is switched off, recordings are without sound (not adjustable in every video mode).

Parameters for the camera in photo mode:

  • Resolution: Here you can set the resolution of your pictures.
  • Timelapse recording interval: Here you can set your recording interval in the timelapse mode and thus determine the time intervals of the timelapse photos (only available in Auto mode).
  • Recording frequency of continuous shooting: Here you set how many continuous shots are taken in a few seconds (only available in burst mode).
  • Self-timer countdown: Here you set the release delay for your self-timer recording (only available in timer mode).
  • White Balance: Set different white balance settings for optimal shooting.
  • Exposure compensation: You can set this between -3 (image becomes darker) and +3 (image becomes lighter).
  • Metering mode: Here you can set the image area on which the camera focuses, e.g. at different points, in the centre, at a point or in a matrix.
  • Contour sharpness: You can set the sharpness between low, medium and high.
  • Shutter: Here you set the shutter speed, either automatically or between 2 and 30 seconds. The longer you expose, the brighter and possibly blurrier your shot (not adjustable in every photo mode).
  • ISO sensitivity: ISO can be adjusted automatically or manually between Set 100 and 6400.
  • Time watermark: Here you can add a date and time display to your recordings.

System settings:

  • Image rotation: This function rotates the display 180° to allow the camera to be operated upside down.
  • WiFi: Activate WiFi here to be able to operate the Actioncam via app.
  • WiFi information: Here you will find the name and password of the WiFi of the Actioncam.
  • Reset WiFi: Here you can reset the WiFi.
  • Light source frequency: Set the frequency of your ambient light here to get the best pictures.
  • LED indicator light: Here you can set whether the operating light is on or off during operation.
  • Screen saver: Here you can set the display to switch off automatically after a certain time.
  • Automatic switch-off: Here you can set the camera to switch off automatically after a certain time.
  • Sound: Here you can turn the shutter sound, start sound and button sound on and off and vary the volume.
  • Language: Change the language of the camera menu here.
  • Date & Time: Set the date and time format here.
  • Time setting: Set the time here. • Date setting: Set the date here.
  • Format card: Format your memory card here, e.g. after a firmware update.
  • Device Info: Here you can find information about the firmware.
  • Reset: Here you can reset the camera to the factory settings.

Webcam function

The Actioncam 7s Plus can also be used as a webcam. Make sure to insert a micro SD card first. Then connect the camera to your computer via USB and select the option "Webcam mode" in the window that then appears.
As a webcam, the camera has a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 px and a frame rate of 30 fps. Note: Please note that you will need a separate microphone for audio transmissions as the internal microphone is not used for this function. Also, the compatibility of the camera as a webcam depends on the program you are using.

Connecting an external monitor

You can connect an external monitor via the micro HDMI connector. You can use any resolution of the camera as long as the monitor supports it.
Note: The camera does not support live online streaming.

Remote control


You can operate the Actioncam remotely with the supplied remote control. There are two shutter releases, one for the photo mode (1) and one for the video mode (2), which take a photo or start and stop recording a video. Radio frequency of the remote control: 2.412 – 2.472 GHz; Transmission power: 10 mW Note: Remote control is not waterproof.

Storage location / memory cards

This camera is compatible with Micro SD and Micro SDXC memory cards with 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB capacity. You must use a Micro SD card with a minimum speed of U3 or V30. We recommend the use of branded memory cards for maximum reliability during activities involving high vibration.

Tips:

  • The memory card is not included in the delivery, you have to buy an additional memory card.
  • Please format the Micro SD, Micro SDXC memory card on the camera before use.
  • Please restart the camera after formatting.
  • Please insert the memory card correctly, otherwise the card slot may be damaged.

WiFi setting / operation via App

You can connect the camera to your smartphone via the built-in WiFi function. Turn the camera on and press the down button for 3 seconds, or wipe down on the touch screen to turn on WiFi via the shortcut, or open the system settings to activate WiFi there. The WiFi of the camera is activated, the WiFi indicator lights up, and the WiFi information (network name and network password "1234567890") appears on the camera monitor. Then connect the camera to the smartphone by going to the WiFi settings on your smartphone and selecting the camera's network and connecting it. Download the free app "Rollei 5s/6s/7s Plus" from Google Play or the Apple App Store and install it on your mobile phone. Once installed, open the app and select the camera network from the list. You will see the camera on the phone screen. To exit the WiFi mode, briefly press the mode button.

Firmware updates

If the firmware changes, we release new updates which you can download from our download centre and install yourself. You will find the current firmware version on your camera in the menu under Device Info. To install an update, please copy the file with the extension.img to your Micro SD card using a card reader. Disconnect the memory card from the PC and insert it into the camera. Turn on the camera and confirm the firmware update. When the update is complete, the camera will turn off. Format the micro SD card in the Actioncam using the settings menu before using it again.

Disposal

Dispose of the packaging according to its type. Use the local possibilities for collecting paper, cardboard and other materials. (Applicable in the European Union and other European countries with systems for the separate collection of recyclable materials).
Devices that are marked with this symbol must not be disposed of with household waste! You are legally obliged to dispose of old devices separately from to dispose of household waste. Information on collection points that accept old appliances free of charge can be obtained from your local authority or town council.
Batteries and rechargeable accumulators must not be dis posed of in household waste! As a consumer you are legally obliged to dispose of all batteries and accumulators, whether they contain harmful substances* or not, to be disposed of in an environmentally sound manner. Accumulators and batteries are therefore marked with the symbol shown opposite. For more information, contact your dealer or contact return and collection points in your community.

Safety instructions

Hazards for children and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities (e.g. partially disabled, older persons with reduced physical and mental abilities) or lack of experience and knowledge (e.g. older children).

  • This product can be used by children aged 14 and over. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision.
  • The packaging material is not a toy. Do not let children play with the packaging material. They can get caught in it and suffocate while playing.
  • Supervise children to ensure that they do not play with small parts (screws, plugs, memory card, batteries/rechargeable batteries). If you suspect that a small part has been swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
  • Store small parts so that they are inaccessible to children and animals.

  • Remove the battery and, if necessary, the charging cable immediately if there are unusual noises or smells or smoke from the housing.

  • Never place the device on or near hot surfaces (e.g. hotplates etc.) or open fire. Never expose the device to excessive temperatures (heating, etc.).
  • Never pour liquid into the unit.
  • Never use a steam cleaner for cleaning.
  • Do not use the unit if the plastic or metal parts of the unit have cracks or crazing or have become deformed.
  • Handle the device with care. Impacts, falling or knocks can damage the device.
  • Never immerse the product in water or other liquids.
  • Remove the battery if you are not going to use the product for a long period of time to prevent damage from a leaking battery.
  • Only use the product in a temperature range between -20°C and +40°C. The product is suitable for use in a tropical climate.
  • Do not modify the product.
  • Never open the casing, leave the repair to qualified personnel. Contact a specialist workshop for this purpose. Liability and warranty claims are excluded in the event of repairs carried out independently, improper connection or incorrect operation.
  • Do not operate the unit if it shows visible damage or defects.
  • When not using the unit, cleaning it or if a fault occurs, always switch off the unit, remove the battery and disconnect all connections.
  • If the product has problems due to static discharge, switch the device off and then switch it on again after about 10 seconds.
