General
Do not install any XPander equipment until a full site survey has been completed using the
XPander site survey tool. A maximum of 5 interfaces are permitted for each site. For sites
that require more than 5 interfaces please contact Apollo. All installation engineers must
have had certifi ed XPander training.
The XPander Remote Indicator Module (RIM) and ancillary equipment is available under
the following part numbers:

The installation must conform to BS5839-1:2013 (or applicable local codes). The Remote
Indicator Module is suitable for indoor use only (type A).
Installation
Ensure that all Remote Indicator Modules are sited in accordance with the survey and
system design. Remote Indicator Modules must be surface mounted.
1.
Remove the back plate fi xing screw. Retain this for re-insertion. Insert fl at bladed instru-
ment into the removal slot and remove the back plate from the transmitter/battery
section. (See Fig 1).
2.
Mount the back plate in a suitable location using suitable fi xings and fasteners. Ensure
the fasteners are fl ush with the mounting plate to avoid the risk of damaging the bat-
tery PCB. (See Fig 2).
3.
Locate the Transmitter/Battery assembly onto the back plate. This has a hinged con-
nection and should be located on the top edge fi rst.
4.
Ensure that the tamper switch operates correctly. The switch should make contact with
the back plate.
5.
Replace the back plate fi xing screw.
6.
Fit the power jumper shorting link and commission the unit according to the XPander
commissioning guide PP2286.
Set the loop address and commission the Remote Indicator according to the XPander
commissioning guide PP2286.

  • Page 2 XPERT Card Addressing The XPander XPERT card is specifi cally designed for XPander products and has profi led address pips for ease of installation. The use of standard XPERT cards is not recommended. Select the desired address and remove the pips indicated in black. Remove pips with a small screwdriver.
