Polarity assignment - V.24 Signals

The 500FSD20 modem permits the free assignment of the V.24 signal definition for frequency
keying. This can be set individually for each signal. In addition, the zero position of the receiver can
be set.
Commands to change polarity assignment
< s e t i n t e r f a c e f s k 0 [ n o ] i n v e r t { c t s | d c d | r t s | r x d |
t x d } >
< s e t i n t e r f a c e f s k 0 r x z e r o { 0 | 1 } >
According to the CCITT, the following assignment applies:
• Data signals (RxD, TxD)
– F+ΔF=SPACE=0 =+12 V
– F-ΔF = MARK = 1 = -12 V
• Control signals (RTS, CTS, DCD, DSR)
– ON = 1 =+12 V
– OFF = 0 = -12 V
If an external DCE opposite side or DTE does not adhere to this assignment, an adjustment can be
made by inverting the signals in an appropriate manner.
